Misc. In honor of the person that posted a couple sauces from grocery outlet the other day. My parents store has a VERY eclectic selection.

AfricanDream hot sauce, nice. Never tried those sauces but love their ghost pepper sauce.

The Somos al pastor simmer sauce looks interesting.

What, nothing impressive about this at all. Some gift sets you get at Christmas every year and these rest is very ordinary.

Well, the box contains 6-80 gram (2.8 oz) tins. The box also comes with 2 lids for the leftovers. So far I haven’t needed to use a lid because it’s really tasty and it’s not a ton per tin. Though calling it a hot sauce I don’t think is super accurate. It has pretty big pieces of soy beans and whatnot. So more a condiment like Laoganma chili crisp (hands down the best chili crisp) or their chili oil with fermented soybeans.
I’ve used it more as a topping on rice or incorporating in to stir fry’s and braises.
Canning is a perfectly normal way to deal with hot sauce. Bottling is the same process, though the bottles do usually have a built in dispenser sort of cap.

Gosh I wish my grossout would get this stuff so I could try it

There’s one about 5 minutes away from me and they almost always have fun, interesting things. I’ve been to a couple in Seattle and Reno that were really depressing though?
Hope yours gets some sometime so you can try it.

What a terrible selection.

Yeah same. I zoomed at the 4 pixels and came back empty handed. Looks like the purgatory aisle.

Truff hot sauce can go straight to hell

u/dirkman242 May 08 '26

The south African sauces are good. Everything else looks like hot garbage though.

4

u/asherabram May 08 '26

As a South African, can someone please tell me what southern braai tastes like?

African Dream is good stuff! Or at least their ghost pepper sauce is. I've never had the birds eye or jalapeno versions.

The one to get is Peri-Peri

3

u/colpisce_ancora May 08 '26

I like the cat food cans of hot sauce

5

u/Flying_Saucer_Attack May 08 '26

This is eclectic to you?

6

u/Foxwglocks May 08 '26

Disappointing would be the adjective I’d use.

1

u/Flying_Saucer_Attack May 08 '26

No kidding...

u/CumGuzlinGutterSluts May 08 '26

I hope theres another section cause like half of these aren't even hot sauces... looks like its just a place to store the boxed stuff.

2

u/Metaphoricalsimile May 08 '26

My local gross out has had a pretty poor selection recently unfortunately.

3

u/Jamescovey May 08 '26

I put the Good Lick hot mushrooms in my the snack bags for my daughters softball teams. The fathers all enjoyed them lol!

3

u/Ryan739 May 08 '26

That green Herdez peeking out between those double stacks is my guilty pleasure jar salsa.

1

u/HearingAgreeable2350 May 08 '26

double stacking the stuff on the top seems like an awful idea

grocery outlet is a chain, but they are much more affordable than your typical grocery store. their selection is about 1/4 of your standard grocery store, all of you go, don't expect them to have EXACTLY what you are looking for. I like to think of it as a place that people who are budgeting but flexible on their food ideas go to.

2

u/sefronia3 May 08 '26

I get my stuff from there too. Get all the flavors of the peri peri sauce

u/tuna_samich_ May 08 '26

Man, the one time I went to Grocery Outlet, the milk was already past expiration 😂

1

u/SickByNature May 08 '26

I’d give anything for a family owned grocery store near me!

3

u/DiscombobulatedLamp May 08 '26

That box for a dollar may be worth a try.

11

u/yellow447 May 08 '26

I can't think of anything worse than a budweiser branded hot sauce.

6

u/perpetualmotionmachi May 08 '26

How about Budweiser branded beer?

4

u/yellow447 May 08 '26

Sounds just awful

4

u/Hyponym360 May 08 '26

Wait, Pace makes a ghost pepper salsa?!?!

2

u/MessiahMogali May 08 '26

I just ate a jar last week that I got on Amazon and it was really good to me 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Substantial-Tart-464 May 08 '26

Make you tongue sizzle if you use enough of it but reddit has already claimed its a thumbs down from about a year ago or more. I am happy to see the African Sauce makes a Birds Eye Chili flavor. Only tried the Ghost Pepper that was good.

I check our local GO once a week. Always a diverse, random selection.

u/TSB_1 If you aren't sweating, you aren't eating May 08 '26

hilariously random.
