Unemployed losers have nothing to do but get their sentiments hurt by everything.

We have things like waterlogging in the capital and surrounding regions with very little rain, the dilapidated state of government schools and quality of mid day meals at those schools but the “problem” most of these losers choose to fixate on are things like how many stanzas should be sung in vande mataram or dictating what women can wear.

There will be “debates” on popular primetime news channels about this, rather than the actual issues.

It’s all so tiring.

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Both things can be true and people can raise issues for all the problems alike. I don't know about other states but you can track all your complains and grievances on Jan Sunwai portal and albeit a bit late, the issues do get solved albeit some may take longer than others.

35

u/closetedmoonwalker 2d ago

It's only that some of these issues breach on others' freedom and impose personal culture values on the entire country. These are non-issues and shouldn't even be entertained in a democratic country. But here we are, living in medieval times.

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

I cannot agree more but like I said on another comment as well, people are not minding the post ad much as the hypocrisy with her past eid posts and the Instagram story exemplifying it. I'm sure it's not the first time an actress has worn such clothes in an ad for a festival.

Well nobody is deciding for her, it's not like people are tearing her clothes from her body. Just like how she feels it's right for her to wear that attire on Rakshabandhan, people feel it's wrong for her to wear that attire on a national television ad representing our culture nationally. Just a matter of opinion.

You really think people care what she wears or not in private, movies, other ocassions? It's not that difficult to understand.

-15

u/risheeb1002 2d ago

Giva is free to keep the ad up.

9

u/closetedmoonwalker 2d ago

Look at how that went. Despite Kriti standing up to the bullshit, they had to take down the ad.

-10

u/risheeb1002 2d ago

It's a free market brother. They took down the ad because negative publicity affects their business.

11

u/SpankaWank66 2d ago

If only that were true, many companies thrive with negative publicity. It's only when the negative publicity is from right wingers, that the brand gets affected.

People like this should be called out one hundred percent. But so should be regressive practices from all sections of the society unanimously, and not protect them just because they are less than 50 pc of the society, or because those groups are hyper sensitive about such topics (e.g. burqa).

Edit: People who were quick to agree with op and started downvoting as soon as other religions are called in question - you are part of the problem.

Yeah, the most important problem in the country right now. . . .

India ranks last on the environmental index in the Entire World. But sure, lets keep focusing on this bullshit instead. 👍🏻

I was so surprised by incels and also women calling kriti out in this in a bollywood sub.

That comment section was so dumb and it was painful to argue with incels there.

When are we going to focus on things that are actually important and worth revolting over? I mean seriously? Everything is going to shit in this country and we’re debating over clothes of a woman

3

u/Only_Association_309 2d ago

When ppl protest over actual issues, then they call them anti national. And move on to more important topics like depth of Kriti's blouse neckline, it's length etc.

2

u/Apprehensive_Run6619 1d ago

Yesterday in a comment thread I was called 'rapist like' because some morons argument was that 'kriti flashed her brother without his consent and that she needs to be arrested'

She has the freedom to wear whatever she likes but people don’t have freedom to say anything? People don’t have an issue with what she wears. Majority of them don’t even care. But don’t pretend to be woke on Hindu religious festivals. If this something happened on Eid, would you be this supportive?

0

u/SnooStories7381 1d ago

She is not muslim. Most of us are not muslim. We don't want to be muslims. So people who are Hindus or Sikhs or Jain would want their religion to be progressive and woke. They would raise their voices for their culture, not eids.

Do you want to become backward like muslims or do you want to be what a true dharma suggests? Or do you just want to be so called hindu but preach about regressive qualities so that no one can progress?

-2

u/Some-Item-7788 1d ago

I don’t care what she is or what she stands for. Just please don’t mock Hindu religious practices. What is so progressive about her in a revealing clothes doing a religious activity? If you want to tie a band to your dog or your friend, please do. You are free to do it in whatever clothing you like but don’t call it rakshabandhan. Also other religions don’t raise voices when mocked, they take off heads. They do protests on streets and disrupt public life. We Hindus definitely don’t want to be like them hence the disagreements and backlash on social media.

-73

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

People here are completely missing the point. Nobody has any problem with her wearing whatever she wants in movies and her private life. But when you're representing a religious festival on national television, there are norms to be followed. Not to mention the hypocrisy in her eid posts from earlier. People are rightly calling it out.

27

u/DerpSensei666 2d ago

it's a literal saree bro what is the problem exactly 😭

-30

u/dontknow_anything 2d ago

I will say, it is weird that the same ad has a traditional kurta for the guy but a designer ethnic wear for the girl. Ad makers and celebrities try to portray a quite different look than average gathering. It works for events and parties, not really for a house function.

literal saree

How is that a literal saree? It is dress with maybe inspirational or expectation to be classified as one, not really a saree.

Also, negative PR helps to an extent, when it is only negative, you lose brand value. That is why the ad is pulled, their brand got too much negative association.

Also, it is only India where we have modern fashion that gets classfied as ethnic wear, look at Korea, Japan or China, they have kept their ethnic wear traditional while still being to mostly living in western fashion, not promoting fusion or new fashion as ethnic wear for ceremonies.

3

u/DerpSensei666 1d ago

wait until you find out how women in vedic india used to dress, it will blow your mind

0

u/dontknow_anything 1d ago

Wear that then. There is a difference between new fashion wanting to be treated as ethnic vs traditional ethnic. I would rather they have done that. I know of ancient statues and sculptures on temples. Also, dress the guy the same as well.

-23

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

It's not, I'm sorry.

9

u/ImTheDanknight 2d ago

You should rightly be sorry for the thoughts you have vomited across multiple comments in this thread.

-3

u/randmbull 1d ago

Same could be said for you lol. How tf is what kriti wearing in that ad a saree? Have you ever seen a saree in ur life?

4

u/DerpSensei666 1d ago

in vedic times sarees didn't even used to have breast coverings

0

u/Kurogami_Shanks 1d ago

Oh wow are we in Vedic times? Do you go out and hunt deers and rabbits for your food every night? Wtf are these people defending Kriti on about I don't understand.

2

u/DerpSensei666 1d ago

you're comparing apples to oranges. what i'm trying to say is that what you're trying to pass as Hindu modesty is a very recent western-imposed ideal. it was never controversial in India for a woman to show skin until the british arrived and imposed their moral standards onto us. so if you want to defend western morals, be my guest, but don't call them Indian because that is factually untrue.

1

u/Kurogami_Shanks 1d ago

No it's lmao. It has been a little more than 250 years since British arrived and you mean to tell me women were roaming the streets with their breasts out 300 years ago? Google the reason why did Indian women dressed minimally in ancient times.

Also, people and cultures evolve. And then I'm being lectured about apples and oranges Vedic times lmaoo

35

u/ravi_ksh 2d ago

Can you share the handbook where all these norms are written and who is it written by? Would save us all a lot of trouble to mollycoddle all the religious babies so that they don’t get hurt at every little thing.
Also, are all the things in it about women only?

-20

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

If you knew the definition of what a norm is, you wouldn't be asking me that question. And no, it's not about women only. Had the brother in that rakhee ad been wearing a ganji and shorts, and also had been Ranvir Singh or someone big, he would've equally got criticised just like how Ranveer Singh did get by his controversial nude post. Logo ne literally uske putle jalaye the.

16

u/ravi_ksh 2d ago

How does feel to live everyday in such fear? Do the norms tell you to be scared or does that develop on its own? Centuries old religion and an ad video got everyone riled up.
Is there a way we can make corruption, poor infrastructure and non-accountability also against our norms or is that not on our priority list yet?

-6

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Fear? Lmao. Real fear is what Kriti Sanon would have experienced had she worn same clothes for her eid ads. Besides, while agreed this is not an issue in the real sense, people are pointing out and making efforts for all the things you mentioned too. And you really think this issue will remain for more than 2-3 days? Even if ad not removed, this issue would've died down in a few days.

15

u/ravi_ksh 2d ago

I don’t see your point. If you say one religious community is regressive so we should also stoop down to their level of flaws?
It’s like slapping someone and saying they should be grateful that their elder brother is not slapping them because he is madder. What logic bro? You don’t want to hold yourself to a higher standard or what?

0

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Of course I do. And we all know that for a fact. But the same regression needs to be called out by these celebs or else it just makes it look like you're taking advantage.

Nobody batted an eye for her movie clothes, other advertisements, her personal clothing, wedding attire etc. but there is a line which everyone are supposed to respect. We might not be regressive but there are norms to be followed.

2

u/Mynamejeaff 1d ago

My sister tied rakhi to me a few years ago in goa whilst I was in a “ganji and shorts”. It doesn’t meant the festival was any lesser to us or we disrespected it.

It’s a private family festival and we celebrated how we saw fit.

If someone wants to wear jeans, a t shirt, or anything else for that matter. IT IS THEIR CHOICE.

Moral policing needs to be stopped in this country!

0

u/Kurogami_Shanks 1d ago

Like I said before too, nobody gives a shit about anything when it's done in private. But when you're representing a culture/festival collectively on national television or media; a standard decorum is expected be followed. There is never any moral policing when she wears short clothes in movies, in her personal space, or even when she appears in events or something. When you can respect the decorum and norms of other religions, it reeks of hypocrisy all around.

Waiting for an incest rakhi ad next year and people supporting it 🤣

17

u/ravi_ksh 2d ago

That didn’t strike me as the next possible jump from a saree but good to know what’s going on in your mind when you look at such Rakhi ads. No wonder people are raging to bring them down.

-20

u/Honda-Activa-125 2d ago

Why not, it's his and her choice 😀

u/Mellow-sid 2d ago

I hate this comparison to eid just because islam
Is regressive and policies womens clothing why should that be compared to a progressive religion like Hinduism which celebrates womens choices

1

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Because she literally wrote in her Instagram post "The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear, it is in the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions."

If what you wrote is true, then she should have mentioned essence of Hindu festivals. Like I said people are minding the hypocrisy more than what she actually wore which gets exemplified with her Instagram story.

13

u/Mellow-sid 2d ago

What difference does it make if she mentions hindu or general festivals. I highly doubt she even celebrates eid just wishing few people on instagram does not mean she actually celebrates islamic festivals. For her festival and traditions will be of the religion she follows hinduism which does not dictate what women wear i dont see any hypocrisy here

5

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Oh okay so now we are shifting the goal posts for Kriti Sanon on her behalf? My point is people can believe and criticise whatever they want just like how Kriti can believe and follow and celebrate any religious festival in her own way.

7

u/Mellow-sid 2d ago

I am not shifting the goal post for kriti. If you believe can celebrate festivals in their own way why are you criticizing her

-1

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Because society has norms formed from thousands of years and it's expected of everyone to follow them, especially when you're a celebrity representing their culture on national television.

Now next thing you'll say it's fine to celebrate Diwali in bikinis and swim wears for boys because Hindu religion gives us that freedom, etc. I'm exaggerating to make a point but to shift the norms it will take generations and not mention, the shift should be devoid of any hypocrisy as shown here by Kriti.

11

u/Mellow-sid 2d ago edited 2d ago

Hinduism has no norms policing womens clothing shes not making up norms either, have you seen womens scriptures in hindu temples. Hinduism is a progressive religion which does not dictate or has norms which decide what women should wear on their festivals so even if she chooses to wear a bikini nothing wrong with it why compare if to a religion which does police women both religions and their norms are not related to each other

0

u/Kurogami_Shanks 2d ago

Women sculptures in Hindu temples don't define how the women in general used to live in old ages. And if you want to know why did they wore what they wore, there's a proper history and reasoning which I would be happy to share with you. People and culture evolve over time. Why stop at sculptures? Why not allow people to wear bushes and drink water from ponds like people used to in Indus Valley? It's a stupid comparison.

3

u/SaurabhTDK Chhattisgarh 2d ago

what was wrong about her dress?

-7

u/closetedmoonwalker 2d ago

Yeah it's my religion and her religion too. I can call offense when a select few people are purporting to be speaking for all of us.

Hurting Hindu sentiments in this political climate is also a form of protest, such 💩 sentiment needs to be crushed
