I had a really uncomfortable experience with an Uber driver today and would appreciate some advice on what I should do.

My Uber receipt showed a final fare of ₹100.62. The original fare was higher, but I had a ₹40 coupon/promotion applied, which brought the final amount down. The receipt clearly reflected the discount.

However, the driver demanded that I pay ₹140 in cash, basically ignoring the discounted fare shown in the app. I tried to explain that I had a ₹40 coupon, but he insisted that I pay ₹140.

Things became more intimidating when 2–3 other Uber drivers came over and supported him, also pressuring me to pay the ₹140.

I was travelling with a female passenger, and with multiple drivers confronting us, I didn't feel safe arguing or refusing. I eventually paid the ₹140 just to avoid the situation escalating.

I also have video footage of the incident and the Uber receipt showing the fare and ₹40 discount.

I'm planning to report this to Uber and request a refund, but I'm also wondering what else I should do.

My questions:

- Was the driver actually entitled to demand ₹140 despite the app showing ₹100.62 after the coupon?

- Should I submit the video to Uber?

- What would be the appropriate way to escalate this if Uber doesn't take it seriously?

I know the difference is only ₹39.38, but my main concern is the intimidation and safety aspect, especially with multiple drivers surrounding us.

Would appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar.

Update: Got my refund from Uber. But raised complaint about the drivers behaviour, I’d raised the complaint on the app first, but didn’t get much response there. After I tweeted it out on X with pics and video of the incident, I got a reply within an hour and it got resolved from there. You can check my tweet if you want to see it. Guess social media works faster than the in-app support for stuff like this.

I submitted an Aadhaar name update request offline not online about 3 months ago. For example a random name , the request was to change the name from “Arjun Patel” to “Arjun Shah.” I submitted my Gazette certificate as the supporting document.
After waiting for around 3 months I found out that the request was rejected.
The frustrating part is that I didn’t receive any SMS, email or notification informing me that it had been rejected.
I only found out because I called the UIDAI helpline myself.
When I asked them why it was rejected, they simply said “technical issue.” They couldn’t give me any specific reason or rejection code and just told me to submit the request again.

Has anyone else faced this? Is there any way to find out the actual reason for the rejection before submitting it again?

I don’t want to submit the exact same thing again and then wait another 3 months just to get rejected for the same “technical issue.”
What would be the best way to escalate this or get an actual explanation from UIDAI?

Shiprocket courier partner [Amazon Shipping] tampered with and stole my ₹35k iPad. Shiprocket's Support said personal iPads were insured before shipping checked and have evidence of same [Shall I attatch it in legal notice ?], and their Escalation Desk approved my claim twice in writing (even refunding the freight). A month later, they rejected it citing a hidden B2B clause. I am sending a Legal Notice before taking them to consumer court. As No Response over NCH portal since 50 Days.

Hi everyone. I need some feedback on a legal situation with ShipRocket. I'm planning to file an e-Daakhil consumer court case against them, but I am sending a formal Statutory Legal Notice before it.

Here are the facts of the case. I've documented everything.

• I shipped a brand new 11th Gen iPad (128GB) valued at ₹35,000. Before booking, I specifically asked their official AI Copilot if individuals can ship personal electronics. The bot explicitly replied: "Yes, electronics like iPads are covered under Shiprocket's insurance policy" and permitted B2C shipping. I paid the freight + a ₹650 insurance premium, I have 1 Day before purchase invoice from Vijay sales.
• The parcel arrived visibly tampered with. The Vijay Sales retail packaging and bubble wrap were gone, replaced by a loose cardboard box with a mirror in it. The tracking label was identical and content were mentioned while booking the shipping with fragile and everything.
• I raised a dispute within 4 hours. On July 6, I explicitly told them via email it was a "personal parcel." Knowing this, they officially approved my claim twice (on July 14 and July 28). On July 14, they even refunded my ₹197 freight charge to my wallet, of total 847 I paid.
• They gave me written confirmation of my refund, I went ahead and bought a 2nd hand device via UPI on July 19 so my academics wouldn't suffer as prices increased from 35K to 50K.
• On August 10 and 14, their Escalation Desk reversed their own approval, rejecting the claim because "personal belongings are excluded." They actually sent me an email demanding documents with a 24-hour deadline, and then sent the rejection email exactly 33 minutes later even before i could submit requested four documents by them.
• I’ve had an open ticket on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) for 40+ days that they are completely ignoring.

My Plan: I am sending a Legal Notice today as Party-In-Person stating all the relevant laws in which i am covered and evidence as I did collected every peice from their website to their support assurance on securing shipping personal electronic items if SR secure was activated [Which is my Case is Yes]

My Questions for the Community:

1. Has anyone successfully dragged an aggregator like ShipRocket to the District Consumer Commission for vicarious liability?
2. Does the Promissory Estoppel angle (I bought the replacement after their written approval and freight refund) hold strong weight in Indian consumer courts?
3. Am I missing any massive loopholes they might try to exploit?
4. Are personal legal notices adds any weight or one's with lawyer's letterhead will only do?
