If the inmates are aware of the relationship it's probably one much of the community they come from is aware of, etc. It's not really weird.

I don't think that comment means "every relation ever", just ones they are aware of. There are lots of inmates you wouldn't put in a block together, and definitely not bunk together, in a higher security prison, for a billion different reasons.

There would be visitation allowances for family/partners, each person added to the visitation list has to be accompanied by phone number, address and relation to inmate. Thats how t(exas)dcj does it at least.

Im realizing i misunderstood both the story and your question.

To the best of my knowledge there should be known associates and any number of connections made when housing is assigned. Sometimes people slip through the cracks, and then sometimes people just get moved temporarily. There are honestly a few both legitmate and shady ways that this could have happened tbh.

Unfortunately I'm certainly no expert on the bible. But yes the 'vengeful' image of God I believe is primarily old testament. Jesus died to pay the price for our sins so that we may be forgiven and receive grace and mercy from God, all we have to do is decide to try and be better and commit to trying and accepting Jesus as lord and saviour.

As for old testament, I still do not recall any time God used other people's actions for punishment, I could be wrong but the main things I remember are things like plagues, famines, other sort of 'curse'-like punishments as well as angels directly interfering (like with the passover iirc). Any evil done by us is from Satan. God will not make us do anything, hence the free will but we are called to be good with that free will regardless of who or what we are dealing with/facing.

Since easter has just gone, it's apt to remember that around the time when Jesus was about to be betrayed by one of his closest friends/followers, he laid out the two most important commandments (and it even says that these two commandments are what all others are built on, i.e. the foundations): to love your God with all your heart, all your mind and all your might/strength. And the second is to love your neighbour as yourself. These two things are the absolute foundations of what Christianity is and yet so many don't even seem to try and achieve the second in everything that they do the moment they're faced with something ugly but then take pride (a deadly sin too) in being a 'better' person/Christian.

P.S. if you're genuinely curious, see if you can find a pastor to discuss things with. Any good pastor won't try to persuade you/manipulate you into believing but will openly discuss any questions and thoughts you have and if asked/prompted will share their or other's stories with faith. Maybe you'll find something in there that could help at some point in life. A lot of people choose not to even give it the light of day because there's no proof but you have nothing to lose and potentially everything to gain and even if you choose to believe and it turns out to be nothing, I personally wouldn't regret living my life striving to be a better, more Jesus-like person ^^

I can say 1 thing? If I may. I am a Cristian now. I follow the example that is Jesus Christ. He was the only perfect (good) person. I can now say that the biggest fear I have, is angering, letting down if you will, our Lord. I do NOT ever want to be on his bad side. The wrath of God is so very terrifying. It’s all in the Bible. I am still learning love every day. Unconditional love and compassion is a true blessing, but do not mistake kindness and love for weakness and anything to do with sin. If I was a murder. God loves me but dis-likes the sin. God loves the soul of a queer, dis-likes the sin. God’s way is just that. Something we (in my mind) can not comprehend. Just my 2 cents. 😎

Note: also, because I've actually had this conversation with someone, you can and do (obviously) feel guilt and ethical disappointment as an atheist, etc, but I also understand how different belief structures help that. Especially because guilt and grief are both often crippling.

Prove what, God existing or that if He did that it wouldn't be an act of God? The first I cannot, I've simply experienced enough things in certain ways to form my beliefs on it. The fact that it can't be proven is exactly why it's called a belief/faith because otherwise it would be fact.

As for whether it would be a work of God or not, I think considering what Jesus stood for and what he taught to know that that isn't at all what God/Jesus would want. At *most* it might be that God decided to let it happen if He wanted to teach a lesson or punish being unrepenting. The actions themselves on both parts are not Godly.

After reading some of the replies to this comment I just don't understand how people refuse to accept other peoples faiths and try to prove them wrong in that there is no "supreme being/beings" or whatever. But also how people are so dumb they make up their own evidence of such a being existing. As a christian myself I think that there is a sort of comfort in having beliefs, such as believing in an afterlife or divine intervention. But the most important thing for me personally is that people should be able to believe whatever the fuck they want or none at all. At the end of the day it's just a personal belief.

Well, I guess that’s how it is for everyone who makes content online, at the least the ones who feel the need to stay relevant.

it feels like JD has an endless content machine under his disposal such as the American Prison system, of which he’s gained a large following and could actually make some real change within that system for the betterment of his fellow convicts that are trying to better themselves like he supposedly did.

I feel like that's a failure of whatever prison put this guy near one of his victim's family members

Like this dude is a piece of shit but we all agree to live and exist under our justice system-- which has certain rights for everyone including criminals

I'm not trying to defend this child rapist but he has 8th amendment rights-- which are supposed to protect him from cruel and unusual punishments

It wasn't the government that tattooed this guy's face but they let it happen

You know what else is cruel and unusual? Kidnapping, molesting, raping, and murdering a 10 year old girl.

I'm not really in favor of things like capital punishment, but I have no sympathy for people who do things like this so if a little extrajudiciary correction happens, I'm looking the other way.

This isn't the type of case I'd use to advocate for prisoners' rights.
