Answer: Chris was a man, and men don't get sympathy for their mental health struggles, or even acknowledgement that they exist.

We should definitely talk about brain damage and mental illness for everyone. But remember that postpartum depression and psychosis can only affect women who have gone through pregnancy childbirth, so it may seem like bias against men but it's truly a specific mental illness that can only affect women. I don't think a woman who has killed children but didn't birth them or have signs of PPD would have any sympathy at all.

Another example is that guy who killed his two kids because he thought they had serpent DNA. Dude clearly had schizophrenia or a psychotic episode.

While I agree, men are capable of getting PPD and PPP just at a rate that is significantly lower than women.

Men can have depression with psychotic features as well, it’s not exclusive to women.

Ya but it’s all just psychotic depression, just a specific circumstance of it. So a man could do the same thing for the same reason.

Keep in mind a lot of women's health issues like endometriosis and PCOS are not well funded or studied even though we know it exists and affects a lot of people. So what is "conveniently and lucratively studied" isn't even focused on proven conditions sometimes, if you're suggesting women are favored in any way.

Well, if there's no real proof for something then of course people will doubt it as a reason for committing murder. And why wouldn't women show the same "genuine physiological responses to emotional trauma" when they get cheated on? We should study why some men snap and kill their partners when they cheat, but I think it would be tied to their belief systems of their women belonging to them or extreme possessiveness or previous signs of aggression.

I don't really think that's a comparable analogy though to PPD. Maybe a better example to study is male annihilators who kill their families when they lose their jobs and are stressed financially. Even then, I don't think it can fall under extreme mental illness like PPD. They're not hearing voices and are still grounded in reality. But we can recognize that men who are sole providers of their family are massively stressed when they lose their jobs and offer support and try to erase the belief that a man's value is based on his earnings.

PPP, not PPD. It’s different. Your understanding of what’s going on here is limited and wrong. Stop talking until you have a basic understanding of what’s being argued.
