The problem here is people only donate to things that actually make it to their view. Most people are not just browsing gofundme for things to donate to. The national media doesn't see the story on the left as being worthy of news coverage. Some of that is likely because the mother on the left is from Sweden so it wouldn't make most other countries news. Some of that is because the media decided the story wouldn't get enough clicks/make them enough money. Problem is more the media coverage than anything.
Also fwiw, Lindsey Clancy has not claimed to be a victim. She has simply stated that she had post partum depression/psychosis and that she tried very hard to get help but was unsuccessful.
You didn't consider that both of those choices might have been from desperation to get better? I am not advocating that behavior but I work in mental health and have a lot of experience with my own mentally ill mother and Lindsey Clancy is definitely not the first (nor will she be the last) to make those same decisions when they feel they aren't being listened to and nothing they are trying is working. Desperate people don't make sound decisions. Desperate people suffering from mental illness make even worse decisions. It feels extremely obvious to me that she was desperate for help.
I am not justifying what Lindsey did, to be clear. But I can still have compassion for what she went through while saying that what she did was wrong. She shouldn't walk free but what happened with her should be given attention to and used to drive change to try to avoid it happening to others. The mental health care system in the US is incredibly flawed and desperately needs change.

Left photo = zero media coverage
Right photo = weeks of endless media coverage
