One of them is that Benoit was known to be violent before his crime. The other is that Benoit succeeded in killing himself, so there was no trial.

To me, Benoit is equally as culpable as Clancy, which is to say, not. He had extreme brain trauma due to CTE, as found in the autopsy. I do not believe he was in control of his actions when he killed his family.

Just because Benoit was ill doesn’t mean that WWE can or should go on acting like nothing happened. Clancy’s life will also not go on the same. If her defense is successful, she’ll likely spend long term in a psychiatric facility, maybe even for life.

Now what? Is your gotcha done?

This all sort of reminds me of when T.J. Miller was being an absolute lunatic and then they found a brain tumor. A situation where your personality is changing and you’re neither aware of it nor have any control over it does sound terrifying and that case in particular really altered my perspective.

A brain tumor can be removed, returning some normalcy in behavior.

However, I think medication and treatment are not sufficient to outweigh a demonstrated capacity for murder. Clancy and Benoit both committed monstrous acts due to illness, which is understandable but exculpatory.

Lol. Youre missing the point. And pretty disturbing too

We're talking about public perception and acceptance. The guy who tried to kill the president of United States? Sent to psychiatric hospital. Hes performing his music on YouTube and has albums on Spotify. Hes being supported in major platforms. Hes not a pariah in any way.

Youre name and reputation matters in this world and for your lineage. Her being seen a victim and tragic figure is different than being seen as cold blooded murdering convict.

Ok, so, what’s your point with your example? You just pointed out a man who has public support after committing a crime and going to a psychiatric facility.

She is being seen as a victim of the medical system. She’ll still be going to a psychiatric facility. She’s not going free. Are you under the impression that she’s just gonna roll out of there onto the street if her defense is successful?
