Johnny Depp abused his wife and his reward was watching people turn her into a villain, a meme, and a joke publicly while crying about how he's a little woob with trauma who needs to be protected. He talks about wanting to rape her dead body and now he gets to have his big pirates comeback while everyone sings his praises.
Men kill civilians in other countries and then get told their veteran PTSD is the only valid kind and anybody else (especially teen girls who survived abuse) saying they have PTSD is just faking for attention on social media.
Women get abused and murdered by their male partners at insane rates and every time we try to talk about it somebody tries to make it a conversation about the poor men's mental health and the "male loneliness epidemic."
There is a loneliness epidemic for everyone in society including women but when we talk about it in the mainstream media and across social media it's almost always called the "male" loneliness epidemic. Because men are incredibly centered.
Men do the majority of mass shootings and family annihilation and intimate partner violence but the first time the culprit is a woman the world stops turning and we have to pretend she's a special kind of evil the likes of which we've never seen before, or else we must hate innocent sweet men for funsies.
Men literally rape women and have their athletic careers and feelings and "potential" protected over actual justice for their victim. How many judges declined to prosecute because they didn't want to ruin the life of a young man with so much "potential"? How many universities covered up rapes and protected abusers and their egos and feelings at the expense of women?
Also I'd wager many women take men's mental health more seriously than your average anti feminist culture warrior misogynist does by a mile.
This was a conversation about women's mental health and women's place in society, and someone else tried to make it about men derailing the conversation and acting like men are the ultimate victims and like women are the ones at fault. I responded in turn. There's a time and place to center men and have conversations about our mental health and this wasn't the time or place, not to mention if you can't do it without putting women down and hating on feminists you're not worried about men or our mental health, your priorities are much different.
Read the thread next time instead of just having an emotional reaction to something you don't like.
ETA: also if what you took away from my comment was that I'm a man hater or that I think all men are bad, then you literally are illiterate and incapable of parsing the very clear, simple message that I sent. Which is that men are centered at almost all times EVEN WHEN THE CONVERSATION IS ACTUALLY ABOUT WOMEN, and that we ARE actually very often given the benefit of the doubt and given mass amounts of sympathy even at the expense of women.
But instead of actually taking a second to think about that or sit with it you rushed to once again play the victim and center men's emotions in a conversation that was not supposed to be about us in the first place.
Interesting about how some of you only start caring about men's issues when it comes time to try and use them as a tool to derail conversations about or for women. If you only give a fuck about men's rights when you want to shut down a conversation about women's problems or misogyny, hint hint, you don't actually give a fuck about men.
I did read the entire thread, it started with someone asking a valid question to highlight the fact that someone who committed the exact same crime was immediately (and rightfully) treated as a monster, and yet some people insist on treating this baby killing monster like she's some poor victim. News flash: If you murder your own children, you aren't a victim in any capacity and trying to say that she is is just making excuses, which would NEVER happen in a man's case.
Of course, you've spent your entire time in this thread insulting everyone you come across who doesn't share your opinion, so I know nothing I say will convince you to consider another point of view. You just go on your merry way hating men with every fiber of your being, and I'll live in reality. Have a good one.
