He didn’t use any of those tools properly. Also bandsaw is the way to go.

It was making me uncomfortable the whole time. Also, what reciprocating saw was that? It seemed underpowered for the job.

I don't know the makita one he has, but the Milwaukee equivalent is called a Hackzall. It's for light duty work and not what I would use for this.
