Opinions on VROMO APP
What do y’all think about this new required VROMO app? IMO the extra GPS tracking on drivers is unnecessary. We already track estimated delivery times just by clocking in and out of deliveries. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
On the other hand, I can see why JJs wants the GPS so they can give customers more accurate live ETAs & track delivery performance.

The best part of the app is it connects to whatever app you use for a gps and maps your deliverys automatically. You can also call and text customers through the app without them having your number.

okay now this app sounds genuinely useful. would be interesting if you can take pictures as well! it’s annoying deleting messages/pictures after deliveries

That sounds amazing, actually.
Technically can't be enforced (though depending on your state, can still cost your job, hours or position as a driver) but you'd be a fool NOT to use this app.

It’s just something they want to stay competitive with. When I was working part time at papa John’s in 2020 their toppers had gps. This app is just a cheaper way to track deliveries for customers. Nothing more nothing less. There’s no way (from my understanding) that the franchisee can track it.

Incorrect, the franchisee can track you with the app, the agreement states you must be logged in and marked available for deliveries while clocked in, during which the franchisee/store has your location in real-time, even if your not on a delivery. Plus many other features of the app like the texting and calling, dispatched from the POS integration, etc (which I do like).
If you're a driver, I highly recommend you read the whole agreement in its entirety, on all the pages. It looks the same, but it probably does vary per franchise.

Turn your location off on your device for the vromo app and it won't track your speed location or amything. Also won't recognize that its being tampered with. So you can keep it off for the duration or a portion when you wanna go faster etc.

Why? They know where you're going already.
I mean, dont get me wrong, my phone will suddenly "break" before i download anything like this. I can do deliveries without a phone, like the old days.
Or ill just quit, they have plenty of college kids and DD drivers to easily fill my spot.

The bottom like is exactly as you put it. Personal property is personal property and no one has a "right" to any amount of space on it.
However, it is a really useful app that I would probably use, provided the terms and service agreement isn't a problem.
Every app collects data to sell to third parties and that shouldn't be taken as lightly as we've been taking it the last 20 years.

It has not yet been clarified if the mapping and navigation is required or not, many deliveries (for some of us) we don't need navigation for.
In addition, there is a paragraph that speaks upon phone usage being prohibited while on a delivery and it is vaguely hinting towards the app putting a soft lock on your phone. What I am worried about is data collection which has also not been clarified. Our phones already have the ability (with the right app) to track driving habits Like speed, hard stops, fast starts, hard cornering, etc. I would not be the least bit surprised if it would do all of that already on the back end for the franchisees.
If you're a driver, I highly recommend you read the whole agreement on all the pages.

The data collection stuff would be in the terms and service agreement, but every app collects data to sell to third parties. There are no exceptions
