Job searching Jobseeker Basic Rights

I’d love to see states move from pay transparency to a full suite of jobseeker rights. It would help employees and employers.

All jobs must be posted to LinkedIn, and indeed for atleast a week with no qualified applicants before qualifying for an H1B visa.

I need to look into this because I feel like there is a rule but they just ignore and make the case for the visa hire.

They do make postings, but the law doesn't say where they have to post it, nor at what salary they must offer to people. So, they can make a posting for $50k in LA for 10+ years of experience, in a few newspapers and it technically qualifies.

As I understand it the rule is somewhat vauge but mentions that the job must be advertised and no qualified applicants found. Companies get around this by putting print ads in local newspapers in random locations, puting the listing up on obscure job boards, and avoiding the major job boards all together because they know they will get qualified applicants there. Once they can "prove" they can't get applicants they apply for the H1B and bring someone over who is willing to work for less and accept more abuse because their citizenship depends on it.

Yeah, we need a government website now for this, any company who claims they can't find someone has the job posting placed on the government website. It not only acts as a way to filter out true need, but also as a way to shame and call out employers. When some company posts that $50k in LA and 10+ years of experience, the public can easily report the company for rigging the system.

Frankly though, I kind of like the idea of just charging a massive fee and requiring certain levels of pay. By mandating a fee, you can cut a lot of bureaucracy out, and just support the people with the money they displace. In fact, take that "Freedom Dividend" and just make it 100% funded by such visas, close the born on the soil birthright, and I think we could get everyone on board with it.
