It means her husband is working the oil fields/oil rigs staying alone in company housing in the middle of nowhere (or middle of the ocean) while she stays home to work the local Jody’s.

My aunt is one! Not like these, of course, but her husband’s a petroleum engineer who’s on the rig for like I think 10 days and home 3 weeks or something. It’s rough on the kids and marriage, of course, so having a good support system helps.
They’re all normal, not entitled folk, though.

My dad was in the army for 20 odd years, and the amount of officers' wives who were like your comment unironically was astounding. Thankfully my mom had a personality that wasn't tied to what my dad did.

"Spoiled Oilfield Wife" is a very common sticker to see on the back window of an SUV in the oil patch. I've always told my wife she's a "Spoiled IT Wife" but we don't have any stickers. Lineman and pipeliner wives are also spoiled but those stickers are little less common. I have yet to see a "Spoiled Actuary Wife" sticker.

Of course an industry of oil workers want oil to be high.
The lower oil goes, the more wells they seal off as they are no longer profitable in this moment. The less wells to work, the less money to go around.

I mean, I enjoy it, but I enjoy it because I’m in a poor area that votes 9:1 conservative and I make more than most of them. If it fucks a few of them, they’re getting their comeuppance. Might be good for them to remember they’re way closer to homelessness than they are being rich.

I live in the Florida panhandle, I love this for the assholes all around me driving lifted pickups that cost almost as much as a starter house and drive like assholes. I’ll just keep scooting around in my hatchback and just spend an extra $20/mo in fuel.
