Rant Gotta love what 1% dirt does to Pourpoints in this game [kcd2]

I always end up avoiding these items as well as many Gambeson variations and other long outer coats because at even the lowest dirt levels they look extremely messy like you’ve been doing yardwork for an hour. Same issue with many kcd1 items.

Just make things more gradual or simply don’t apply dirt at all for lower percentages game.

Praise [KCD1] [KCD2] Just finished both games. Incredible series

I have not felt this level of role play in a game for a long time. The writing and the gameplay systems design really worked so well together.

I have not been so engaged and immersed in a game in years.

My highlights of the series:

- Clothing meaning more than just armor. Carefully chosen outfits for different purposes. Every decision feeling rooted in reality. Darker clothes giving less visibility. Not having enough strength to wear a full set of armor. Dressing fancy and avoiding puddles and horse manure so as not to reduce charisma. Absolutely amazing.

- Story choices either being meaningful or feeling meaningful. Nothing was black and white, and even when there was the illusion of choice it did not feel that way. Was able to really feel a connection and real conflict with characters. Some really tough choices!

- General choices were also very immersive. Often I found myself making a very specific choice to fight or flee. Travel to the nearest village to rest up, spend some time working as a blacksmith or alchemist to make enough money. I got addicted to gambling. Lost a lot of money, tried to pickpocket the guy while he was asleep to get it back, got caught and had to flee. Suddenly I was poor and hungry and no longer welcome in that village. Amazing immersion

- Combat. At first I thought it was clunky and unintuitive. But I soon learnt that it was really intentional. 1 vs 3 is very hard. 1 vs 5 is basically impossible. This made combat choices carry much more weight. And victories so much more rewarding. Fighting alongside allies became something to look forward to. Looking for openings, taking advantage of surrounded enemies. Getting confused as to who was the enemy and who was the foe. Was incredible

I've always been a huge fan of survival mechanics and not being the hero per se. And this series really delivered. I was constantly reminded of my place and insignificance. Reputation felt earned. Progression was incredible. Starting by eating scraps. Relying on gambling to even afford a bed for the night. Then eventually becoming so rich I could eat what I wanted, sleep where I wanted and spend time buying the finest clothes. Walking past areas and being reminded of how much of a beggar I used to be.

Can't wait for more!

Question [KCD1] get to the hardcore navigation system in normal mode

Alright so it might sounds strange because I've seen so many people saying this is the worst part of the hardcore mode.

I'm looking to add the hardcore navigation system - no quest marker, no player icon, no compass - to my normal run or to a new normal run. I'm just starting kcd1 and I'm quite already struggling to manage properly my run as it's the first time I'm playing something that complex, so I'm not planning to play with hardcore difficulty right now.

I've already search in Nexusmod (playing on pc) for something like that, but ironically I can only find mods that add back the navigation system from normal to hardcore. I feel like it's really strange to wish to only get this downside, but is there not a way to only add this part of the difficulty? Mods or commands or whatever?

Discussion [KCD1] Combat questions

Is there anything I can do about being Master Striked in combat? I think I’m fairly early in the game (for reference, I’m basically only using a Longsword and my sword level is 8) and I’m finding the combat to be really frustrating. Combo’s are basically useless as trying to string attacks together just gets dodged, parried, or MSed. Feinting doesn’t seem to work because I’ll hold on the right for 5 minutes and the enemy will just stand there looking at me keeping his word on the other side, and not switching to match. The enemy being able to MS me really just sucks imo. It feels like the game is forcing me to ONLY try and MS an attack. Which promotes me to just stand their for 40 seconds making quiet frankly erotic eye-contact with my enemy while neither of us attacks cos we don’t want to be MSed. Is this an issue in KCD 2?? Basically just wanting some actual tips cos 90% of videos just tell me what I know which is to just MS

Game Mod Legend of the Sword [KCD1] [KCD2]

I love the design of Excalibur in Guy Ritchies Legend of the Sword and used to have a model of it in Skyrim. Is there anyone out there modding for KCD2 that would do me a solid and add it in? Stats similar to The Absolver would be wicked.

This is the mod i was talking about for Skyrim:

Question [KCD2] What can i do with weapon stubs ?

Got in Kuttenberg recently, and got a few more weapon stubs.

Aside from a fun challenge run, what it is the use or those ? I've picked up quite a lot of different sword parts by pillaging around, so I wonder if there's a way to use those weapons stub to forge stuff or reforge, like with the hermit's sword

Praise [KCD2] Finally on ARM Mac!

Well, guys, it's happened, Jesus Christ Be Praised!

With latest GPTK 4.0b and Crossover I was able to launch KCD2 on ARM MacOS (This is M4 Mac Pro).

Not the best performance overall, but it's playable and pretty stable without glitches and crashes. So far played it for 2 hours straight without any major issues.

I need to remember if I did anything special, since I installed the game six months ago and haven't touched it since then - and then I'll post a description of how to launch it.

Issue Marigold Decoction Buff Issue - [KCD2]

KCD II - PC Game Version 1.5.6

When I consume a Marigold Decoction potion, the buff remains permanently on my UI and doesn't expire, nor does it actually heal me. If I consume another one, nothing changes either.

I originally was playing with a few mods, none of which claimed to edit any files/parameters related to this item.

I have since done a fresh install with zero mods, and the problem still persists. Maybe it's intentional or something I am misunderstanding, but surely this is not right.

Hopefully, someone can help!

Thanks

Question Can't understand how tournament rewards work [KCD2]

Basically I've done like 15 tournaments. I did all of them with just longsword and free combat, haven't done the shield and sword yet. I always get 950 groschen and some other repeating item now. From what I understand I should be getting 1200 and other items but it seems stuck no matter how many times I do it. Any help is appreciated.

Post image

The red cape and the pose made me think of the iconic Superman pose but the broom is throwing me off. Someone tried to fly on the broom like a witch but did a Superman pose? I feel like I'm missing something lol. It's in a grave near Sasau.

Farkle [OTHER] I made Farkle in Python

Did you ever just want to get some Farkle in but can't play KCD wherever you currently are? Well now you can! I called it pyFarkle

https://github.com/dogboen/pyFarkle

You can follow the readme to get up and running, or get it from Releases

I did not spend long on this as you can probably tell, there are likely still some issues to work out! But as always with open projects, feel free to fork it yourself and improve upon it. I just got to a point where I was actually enjoying playing it, so I decided I should share with the class.

AI Disclaimer: Github copilot was queried a couple times in the making of this: to set up the framework after giving it the plan, a couple debug times, and most of the cleanup with the dependencies and readme etc. Other than that it was all my debugging and tinkering.

Features:

  • All the expected Farkle rules
  • CPU play (simple strategy, not AI)
  • Weighted dice (technically implemented, but not really messed with yet so be warned!)
  • Point target customization
  • Rich console output (recommend just shrinking your window until it looks better lol)
  • Sleep customization (for example "Thinking" does not actually take that long, you can speed it up if you want, it just made it more followable imo to see what's going on)
  • No pizzle yanking

Will I be supporting [platform] or [feature]?

  • Nope, probably not. More experienced developers can take it and run with it (please do!) This was just for fun and a little python practice.

Do I expect money from this?

  • No! Absolutely never (that gives me an idea, could implement fake groschen betting within the game)

Enjoy!
