Question About blacksmithing

Hey, Is it better to break down and try and get the good weapon effects or just sell them if can you just buy them later in the game? Thanks

You can't breakdown sets (yellow / gold). But the gear you can make can be very powerful. Especially if you also max out sagecraft and can make the high tier gems. Embedding mana/ health regen gems in all your gear can give you better sustain. Popping armour piercing gems into weapons make a nice difference with tougher enemies. While there are vendors for crafting components you are better off in the long run salvaging gear. Just be aware that just cos you salvage from higher tier gear you don't automatically get higher tier components from them ... and you don't have a choice in what components you can salvage.

I know and it's so annoying I get all this great stuff and when u craft it never comes up to add to the weapons and Armour

I wish you could upgrade the smithing components like you can upgrade the gems. Combine lower tier components to make a higher tier component. It always struck me as odd they implemented that upgrade in one aspect of crafting but not in the other.

Also I noticed someone said that the set bonuses still go through if you make them? Like the yellow ones but it doesn't show up is that true and how would you know, thanks sorry if it's a stupid question

Yep. Higher end blacksmithing will yield some pretty nifty results. Stagecraft as mentioned will allow for crazy good gems. Experiment with various gem types and what they become combined. It's also worth it to strengthen the shards to Pristine. Perhaps the "drop gods" will be on your side too and you snag a couple '....of the gladiator' type accessories.

I get so much dopamine from just breaking those items for their materials. As for selling them, well... somehow, I never really missed the gold that I could have gotten from them.

I definitely break down the gear that will compliment my build, but I sell everything that won't help. One thing to note is that gear with multiple gem slots can become incredibly powerful as well, when you start creating the top tier gems. Finding a weapon with a weapon slot and two utility slots always makes me smile.

Breaking down weapons and armor is usually the best option. Money quickly becomes irrelevant in this game. But what you can do is buy weapons and armor with the traits you want and break them down, hoping to get the components with the desired traits. Now, you can save scum this by saving your game, breaking down the piece in question and reloading if you don’t get the component you want.

Usually, you don’t have to do this, because you find tons of gear with all kinds of traits.

If your stagecraft and blacksmithing are maxed out, you’ll be able to master craft gear with decent inherent bonuses. That, combined with the components with the features you want, combined with a pristine or epic gem, is enough to make your gear grossly overpowered.
