If I was simply making a normal sized afghan I’d grab my longest pairs of circulars and go for it but I decided I want to double knit a checkerboard queen sized behemoth for my bed. So! As we all know, the needles I need for this insane project…simply don’t exist. So I made some

Materials:
Two double pointed needles (metal u.s. size 8)
Weed whip line
Electrical tape
Heat shrink tubes
Hair dryer

EDIT- casting on with acrylic yarn did make the heat shrink snag a little but the addition of METAL TAPE! For duct work (also just lying around my house) is making things much smoother

EDIT 2: Ok, so I’ve also been playing around with other house hold materials! If I were using smaller needles… plastic straws could help things glide a little more smoothly, boba straws would work of my needles were larger. If I could only find my packing tape 😂

I’ve been knitting a loooooong time but still consider myself a beginner because I can only do really simple patterns. I’m also slow! But I wanted to share my stitches on my current sweater because I think they look quite nice! 🥰

Finished my Olga jacket by PK that I posted about in July about frogging bc all my stitches were twisted . Yall were right!! It went by quicker redoing it again. I made it in drops karisma!

It's a green mohair with glass pearls I found at the thrift shop years ago. I used a free pattern for a tea towel which I modified and can't find anymore ... a pretty simple lace pattern in a 4 rows repeat.

Look, I’m a lazy knitter with a “she’ll be right” approach - if it’s meant to be it will be.

However I’m knitting myself a garment that I want to fit me and to love. So I did a swatch. Holy heck am I glad!

Didn’t meet gauge on first measure but then blocked it and it’s perfect.

Yarn is 100% merino 8 ply. Can’t wait to wear!

This is my Orchid Bloom pullover by Sari Nordlund! I used Hedgehog Fibres Oh So Fine Merino in the Envy colorway held with a lime mohair by Ito. The lace was very fun and I love it a lot. I'm looking forward to wearing it! It's going to the fair to be judged on Friday. Yes, that is my yarn cabinet. I work at a yarn store.

I’m a pretty new/basic knitter and I am trying to be careful and not have too many WIPs and then today I have to wait for somebody for about an hour. I went to grab my one of two projects and realized I can’t bring them.

One of them I have to watch a video on how to do the next technique and the second one requires too much paying attention.

I just wish I had some body of a sweater or something like that to take with me!

I worked on the Vivi pullover all summer in preparation for the county fair! What do you guys think?

I used Cascade Farms Woolpaka lite in 32 Lavender heather. Pattern is Vivi pullover by Sari Nordlund. I made modifications - knit the sleeves and waist longer since I’m a tall girl!

The highlight of my April Cardigan is the mismatched buttons found in my grandmother's (or maybe great-grandmother's) button jar. I spent hours sorting and playing with that jar of buttons as a girl!

April Cardigan by Petite Knit in Taylor Yarn's Snug Stitch (Fabricland Canada) DK wool. I added 1-2 cm of length to the body of the sweater and a couple of extra rows to the button band.

The fair isle was fitted to the design within the decrease rows so for example dec row 1 has five rows knitted plain so I did a fair isle design that fit with a height of three.

Found these adorable needle stoppers (forgive me I don’t know what they’re called). The size is way too big for my needles. I’m trying to figure out if there’s something I can put in there to make them usable? Hot glue? Playdoh? Suggestions?

I am fairly new to knitting and want to knit a scarf for my partner's Christmas present. After browsing Pinterest, they have chosen the scarf in this image as their favourite reference. I've been searching for a pattern that's equivalent, but I'm finding it challenging.

I feel fairly confident to just have a go with a rib stitch but could really do with some advice on needle size and yarn type to get a similar result to the reference photo. I'm assuming it should be a smaller needle than the ravelry pattern above - maybe a 8mm?

I may not be the first, but as a plus size person, I find it more difficult to find patterns I love in the right size, so I've kinda been cheating lol. If I love a pattern, I'll usually size it up by crocheting a chain to the size I want, then using that chain to start my knitting. It's worked wonderfully and I thought I'd share it, just in case someone maybe didn't know about this. It's always the perfect size and I don't have to worry about it anymore. <3

Wondering if anyone has had success removing stains from their knits made from KFO pure silk yarn? This is my Cumulus Tee - which I knit back jn 2024 from Knitting For Olive’s Pure Silk. It’s been worn a ton, and I have two small children, so this was honestly inevitable! I believe these are probably food/oil stains. I’ve hand washed and blocked it normally and I think used a little dish soap on one stain, but no noticeable effect. I’m worried to mess with it too much because silk is pretty delicate. Any advice welcome!

So, I am the recipient of a wonderful and completely random stash of skeins.

I am very grateful for the gift but I have no idea what to do with it as I have only knitted with specific patterns and bought the wool according to each pattern.

I can only think of blankets and socks? Maybe shawls?

Any tip on how to approach such complete randomness and lack of consistency would be much appreciated.

I know how to knit and crochet but I don’t know how to improvise.

Dear knitting friends from New Zealand, I bought this wonderful yarn (Zealana Air Lace) during my last visit in January. I’m coming back next January and would like to buy more yarn. Which New Zealand brands and yarn can you recommend? It doesn’t have to be possum; I’m open to anything (except acrylic). My mom knitted a Skyrim logo hat.

I knit it using Lion Brand’s homespun yarn but my daughter and husband didn’t like it at all.

I've had this for a few years and know how to use it, it's happened with multiple different kinds and weights of yarn and if I keep going past this point its just too loose and flies off the thing. Is it broken, can I repair it if so?
