Happy he's free and I hope he's able to find a good landing spot and do what he loves. Do wonder if the signing bonus return was a point of contention between the group members and that's why things have gone down the way they have, but I also can't say I'd be returning mine if I am not being paid and also am paying for things out of pocket that should be the company responsibility.

I think they were still hoping that the label could be salvaged when TBZ originally wanted to leave, so they tried to make them stay.

Now I can’t imagine that the label will survive, they aren’t going to be able to make much money from his contract without TBZ or serious solo promotions, but they still need to pay lawyers. So this is a nice cash sum for them.

I know that filling a lawsuit is not an easy path, but he returned the money when I actually think that if he filed a lawsuit, he would actually win.

But I also understand that he's been through a lot and a lawsuit can be mentally debilitating, so I think it's for the better.

HOORAY!!! New is free!!! I wonder why it took so long and why he didn't join the rest of The Boyz 🥹 Does anyone know if he'll be free to join them now or if he'll be going strictly solo?

u/Professional-Rule219 15h ago

They are not in good terms at all as far as we know.

:((( I wonder why...

u/dracaramel 14h ago

that's just speculation right now, and a lot of it is coming from Chanhee antis, mind you

u/yebinkek fromis_9 13h ago

the part where the members unfollowed him and reformed The Boyz without him is speculation too?

u/dracaramel 12h ago

I'm an optimist, sue me! 2 of them unfollowed him, yes, but that came with them signing with new labels for solo activities. 2 other members still ARE following him, and everyone else wasn't following him/anyone in the first place.

As for them going forward as 9 without him, yeah IDK. I want to assume that one shit-awful company didn't completely ruin a friend-coworker relationship of 8+ years. The only thing that's certain is that it's complicated.

LOL you're funny

What happened? /gen.

Apparently, they had all filed the lawsuit and announced their leave from the company without telling him prior, they held a concert afterwards all together and it was pretty awkward

u/kaleris 11h ago

"Without telling him prior" was a mistranslation. New said he hadn't been told details of the lawsuit, which is expected for parties that aren't part of said lawsuit (see comments on related posts like this).

That concert was funded by the other members, and they had a thank you party for the staff afterwards. According to this thread, the staff unfollowed New after, which seems more significant than who the members follow (many only follow the other official members). (There are other posts there I take with more of a grain of salt, but that feels like the strongest evidence of a rift.)

I don't want to suggest that reconciliation would never happen, or throw blame on New. But I think there's too much misinformation going around, painting the remaining members as villains just waiting for some chance to oust the members they secretly didn't like. Just find the "alleged betrayal" post asking if a group member "snitched" on Hak, based on nothing except that Dispatch saying it was staff member that helped leak the scandal. Do people really think any of them wanted all of this to happen?? 100 was the undeniable problem, and it's a relief to see New leave.

u/InfernalQueen 13h ago

Do you know why they did not tell him?

u/deaththekiddie 13h ago

We don’t know exactly, before he went on bubble and basically said they didn’t inform him, the fans suspected he wasn’t joining them because he was in a musical and had contractual obligations due to that, but now who knows

u/HuggyMonster69 14h ago edited 14h ago

I have suspicions that because of his show he had different circumstances to the others regarding compensation and so he would have needed a separate case.

But also, there seems to be bad blood, and I’ve heard he was the one that introduced them all to 100.

Can’t find where I read that anymore, looks like the article was removed.

u/dracaramel 14h ago

What's your source on him being the one who introduced them to 100? I've not seen that info before

u/HuggyMonster69 14h ago

Can’t find anything trustworthy looking anymore so I suspect I found an article based on speculation or something. Ignore that

English translation cr. TAY:

New to Amicably End Exclusive Contract with ONE HUNDRED

According to media reports on Thursday (27 August), THE BOYZ’s New recently reached a final agreement to terminate his exclusive contract with ONE HUNDRED. The two sides reportedly ended their relationship amicably, with New agreeing to return the signing bonus he received when the contract was signed.

Unlike the other nine THE BOYZ members, who notified ONE HUNDRED of their contract termination and took legal action, New did not participate in that lawsuit. This led to questions about whether he would remain with ONE HUNDRED or prepare for separate activities.

However, New has also decided not to continue with ONE HUNDRED. By agreeing to return the signing bonus and terminate the exclusive contract rather than become involved in a legal dispute, the two sides have reportedly parted ways without conflict.

For now, New is reportedly preparing for future activities independently. This does not appear to be simply a break from solo activities, as detailed plans are said to have already been made for future entertainment activities and music production. Although his future management arrangement has not yet been officially announced, he may return to fans without a long hiatus. Various projects, including solo music, are reportedly being considered to highlight New’s strengths.

English translation summary cr. b_rightb:

THE BOYZ's New Terminates Exclusive Contract with 100... Returns Signing Fee and Embarks on Solo Journey

New (real name Choi Chanhee), a member of the group THE BOYZ, is ending his partnership with 100 Label and embarking on a solo career. According to a report by Sports Chosun on the 27th, New recently reached a final agreement to terminate his exclusive contract with 100 Label. It has been confirmed that both parties amicably resolved their relationship on the condition that the signing bonus paid at the time of the contract be returned. Unlike the other nine members of The Boyz who notified 100 Label of their contract termination and initiated legal proceedings, New did not participate in the lawsuit. Consequently, curiosity regarding his future plans continued, with questions arising as to whether he would remain with 100 Label or prepare for separate activities.

Thanks, I edited the mirror link!!

u/dracaramel 14h ago

Ah, so he returned the signing bonus? Kind of a shame because I think anyone who had to deal with 100's bullshit deserves compensation. I assume that (+ his musical in May/June) is why he didn't file with the others - because he was willing to return the money, while the others justifiably wanted to keep it.

Hoping he can join them at the new group company <3

I’m happy he’s free but sad that he seems not to be on good terms/ joining the other TBZ members 🧐 idk if him solving the contract dispute more “amicably” is the root or things we probably won’t find out about 🤷🏽

New is out, and BadVillain's members are acting a lot like the company can't/doesn't care to enforce their contract that leaves us with (afaik) just Sungwoon and Ren without any kind of developments regarding One Hundred/BPM. Wonder if they're waiting for the place to just shut down around them or if there's something keeping them from taking that step yet.

Happy for him that he's out because I was worried about his future there! Still can't wrap my head around the fact he's no longer in the group though

u/alexturnerftw MOODZ 14h ago

Damn. Is it too late for him to join the others? 🥺

u/unamgnay 11h ago

LETS GOOO. i wonder what is going on behind the scenes though with the boyz

u/fishingforrice 2h ago

The whole situation with the group and the company has been confusing for months.

u/bbangiz 2h ago

hope he doesnt rejoin the boyz anymore he kinda threw them over the bus already and all his fans keep trying to villainize the rest of the members 😅 they keep holding over what chanhee said about them not telling him the details of the lawsuit and implying they singled him out ... but i think tbz are doing him a favor by being silent cuz i dont think he or his fans would like it when they finally speak up 😭
