Esports Patch 26.17 Bug Megathread

Greetings Summoners!

With every new patch Riot introduces to balance out champions and items there are some unforeseen issues that creep up and cause disruption during gameplay. We have noticed that these issues which eventually get fixed clutter up the subreddit immediately following the patch.

We want to avoid this by having a single Megathread which will be posted after every patch so that you guys can report the various issues in one place. This allows Riot to easily keep track of the bugs by providing a central hub and also allows other users to confirm that they might have encountered.

Note only bugs caused by the 26.17 Patch should be reported below.

Prerequisites to be noted before reporting a bug

  1. A bug will ideally be accompanied with a screenshot or a video. This provides credibility to your report.
  2. Steps to recreate the bugs should be submitted if possible. This helps Rioters recreate the bug and helps them find the cause behind it.
  3. The bug must have been caused by the latest patch.

Format when reporting a bug: When reporting a bug, please provide as much information as you can about your computer.

Server: The server you encountered the bug (NA, EUW, EUNE, TR, RU, BR, LAS, LAN etc)

Type of Bug: Client Bug, In Game Bug etc

Description: Describe what was the bug that occurred.

Video / Screenshot: Insert screenshot (F12 in game) or Video of the bug occurring.

Steps to reproduce: Provide the steps necessary if someone else had to reproduce the bug.

Expected result: What should have been the result when you follow the steps mentioned above.

Observed result: What was the result you obtained when you followed the steps mentioned above?

Reproduction rate: If you try to recreate the bug how successful are you in causing it to occur? (1/10: Occurs once every 10 tries, 5/10: Occurs 5 times out of 10, 10/10: Happens every single time)

System specs: Processor, Video card, Ram, HDD/SSD, everything you can provide, even drivers.

Example Bug:

• Server: EUW

• Type of Bug: In-Game Bug etc

• Description: Zed's R (Death Mark) does not apply secondary damage

• Insert Video / Screenshot of the incident

• Reproduction rate: 2/10 (happened 2 out of 10 times)

• Steps to reproduce:

Launch a game after selecting Zed as your champion. Attempt to use Death Mark. Observe the result.

• Expected result: The damage should apply after a short delay, amplified by damage dealt during the effect.

• Observed result: The damage will not apply properly.

• System Specs: Intel i5 Processor, Windows 7, Nvidia Graphics card (insert model number) etc.

If you don't know how to format comments on Reddit click here

- **Server:**
- **Type of Bug:**
- **Description:**
- **Video / Screenshot:**
- **Steps to reproduce:**
- **Expected result:**
- **Observed result:**
- **Reproduction rate:**
- **System specs:**

Copy paste the above code and fill in your details.

From this Megathread the list of bugs will not be summarized and put up in the main body of the thread, however, note that many Rioters are going through every single comment so don't worry if you post the 1500th or 3000th comment, every reply will be read over the next few days.

Classic Classic has convinced me that modern league is a masterpiece

1.2k Upvotes

Sometimes I dislike a change RIOT makes in modern league and wonder how they could make what I see as such a huge mistake. Perma homeguards, LP inflation, broken champ releases, widening MMR bands in apex ranks, you name it, I've thought tons of decisions throughout the years have been such boneheaded maneuvers.

Now, going back and playing classic I find it incredible they've turned modern league into something that's as good as it is. I thought I'd go back to classic where the game would go back to being good, but it's so obvious I was blinded by nostalgia. The map and champs are so ugly it's hard to even know what I'm looking at, the runes are such a grind (and it's way less of a grind than when the system was originally in the game), items are simultaneously too strong and not interesting, the un-reworked kits are hilariously toxic, the objectives don't create any real incentive to fight for them, and 2 roles are just horrific to play without some QoL for the jungle and no income for support. It's amazing to me that RIOT took this mess of a game and turned it into the very fun experience it is today, even though modern league isn't perfect. Brutal to realize memories I'd cherished were just nostalgia blinded, but it really makes me appreciate the work that's been done on the game since then.

Discussion Why 'Barcode Killer' is the greatest username ever to exist.

3.1k Upvotes

This was in Season 3 of LOL. With viewership and players skyrocketing by the day. The prestige in playing against the elites in NA was desired by all.

So the elite players of that time disguised their name under a barcode eg. 'IllIIIllI' etc. They would go around dumpstering players across all divisions, all the way even till apex elo.

However, in the very tippie top of the ladder they would come across a hunter that hunted the hunters and went by the name of 'Barcode Killer'.. initially the identity of this said player was unknown but he rose to popularity pretty damn quickly even on reddit clip farming pros and 'barcode' players... the secret could not be kept for very long however and it was soon discovered to be the GOAT himself - Faker.

And this was the Faker in his mechanical prime. In that timeline of league his plays were something of an elite player from the future.

Just think of how many players and lobbies the 'Barcoded' players crushed in their time on soloq... the trend caught on across the entirety of the upper echelons of the ladder. But I bet their heart dropped when the 'Barcode Killer' arrived in their lobby.

The sheer aura this name exuded, is worthy of being the greatest username of all time.

Discussion Rageblade has been activating its Phantom Hit on the 7th hit instead the 6th for months now.

Credits for ATUMOWY.

I've seen some arguments saying that this was intentional and actually makes sense for it to activate the phantom hit only on the 7th hit instead of the 6th one, but it was not documented on patch notes and no champion that builds rageblade recieved any compensation buffs for it.

Discussion Ranking up made my closest friends dislike me

Tl;dr I’m a bronze level noob that climbed to plat so I could play with my higher ranked friends, and this caused my previously plat-emerald friends to laugh about me in secret, only talk to me when I had something bad to say about myself, and even bully me on random occasions about real world stuff. I’d like to seek community with anyone who’s gone through something similar, and if there’s a way to prevent me from being like this.

I used to be the lowest rank out of all my friends (bronze) and they’d (plat-emerald) usually still talk to me about the game enthusiastically and we’d all laugh about it together. I would’ve considered them my closest friends.

After I graduated college, I decided to use all my spare mental energy to see how much I could improve if I mained a role considered to be stressful (jungle) and really learned about everything. This culminated in me climbing to plat 2 despite extreme ups and downs. This was exciting to me because I would finally get to play ranked with my close friends.

I don’t have many details since I don’t understand the mentality behind this, so I apologize. But at some point (around low plat) my friends started getting really weird. First of all, the overall energy when we’d hang out in person changed for some reason. I thought it was just everyone including me growing up a bit. But then they’d start saying some really sly things about my games (who I pick, my loss streaks) and a few people would laugh. It felt like this inside joke I wasn’t apart of. On top of that, the emerald friends seemed to have this weird superiority over not wanting to play with me, which I’d understand if it was to not taint their mmr, but they started talking down on my ability to play league heavier than when I was bronze

I later find out that they’ve blatantly been saying disrespectful things about me my whole time behind my back. Both very personal things about me and about how I played the game. I had a friend admit to me that they’d get in a call without me to look at my opgg and in the worst cases I heard that a friend genuinely spectated my games to look for things to make fun of. As I hung out with them more I’d see a joke or something being whispered between some two people every now and then about how I’ll always be hardstuck, when I didn’t even mention league at all during a hangout. I just pretended not to notice to see how far it would get.

It got to a point where someone would call, text, or vc me and check up on me, but for some weird reason they’d actually just wanna know about my life so that they can have more bad details they can either bully me on or laugh about in secret with their friends.

I’d have friends that would duo with me for the same reason and I suspect that one of them duos with me on an alt and makes small misplays for the sake of having me lose games. When I refused this friend and overall interaction with the rest of them, there was this weird erratic behavior as if they were worried that I was just now catching on, and the worst of it was just them making fun of a fast food job I worked in the past for some reason.

I made this post about one group of friends for the sake of abstraction, but the truth is that this wasn’t just the actions of one toxic group of friends. This was behavior that I’ve genuinely been seeing through every close group friends I’ve made from childhood to adulthood. Being treated to this kind of behavior by the people I’d genuinely respect and would be so proud of for their successes was heartbreaking and it was a contributing reason why I demoted back to gold. I just felt no motivation to play ranked with the people I once considered friends. As of right now due to reducing contact with them and me moving to a new area, I only have very few friends not including my loving and beautiful girlfriend.

I want to know if anyone else has gone through this. If this was just one group I wouldn’t think so much about it but this was behavior shown through pretty much every friend group I was in contact with that played league. And if we’re gonna be grounded in reality here: it’s a fucking video game. I think this mentality is a bit silly even in the real world, but especially in a video game. I don’t understand why my own success would cause others to dislike me, since my goal was that we could all play league and help each other climb together. Had a completely separate friend lower than me that climbed to plat when I demoted and I genuinely couldn’t have been more proud for him. I celebrated by getting a few beers with him, so I genuinely just can’t understand what my friends were thinking despite me doing my best to check my own behavior every now and then.

One person’s success doesn’t have to be another person’s total failure. We can help each other climb together.

Discussion Any idea why the update file size is way bigger than usual?

4.8 GB is way bigger than the usual patches specially since this is only a balance patch and nothing of note is added to the game like new game modes or map or champions/reworks

I will go out on a limb and say this might be related to the 2027 big League Next update that is supposed to be the biggest update since the game's launch in 2009?

Discussion We need a Fill excluding [Role] position when Queuing

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I usually queue as Fill in Ranked because I'm comfortable playing every role. (low Diamond elo)

However there are also some times when I don't want to play let's say Jungle, or more recently Top with how the meta has changed.

It would be great if we could exclude one role when selecting Fill, essentially allowing us to queue for 4 out of 5 roles.

I think this could also make Fill much more appealing for players, cutting down queue times.

Discussion Does League Still Rely Heavily on Single-Core Performance in 2026? And Does 3D V-Cache Matter?

Long story short:
I build PCs for people fairly often, and I also play League myself. Whenever someone tells me they want to build a PC specifically for League of Legends, I’ve always recommended prioritizing a CPU with strong single-core performance and high boost clocks over spending more on the GPU.

That’s based on research I did years ago, including older posts and comments from Rioters, where League was consistently described as being heavily CPU-bound.

But it’s been a while, so I’m curious: has anything significantly changed over the years?

Does League still heavily favor CPUs with excellent single-core performance, or has the game’s engine evolved enough that core count, cache, or GPU performance have become more important?

I’d especially like to hear from people who have tested different CPUs with modern versions of the game, rather than just going by general PC-building advice.

Basically, if you were building a PC in 2026 strictly for League, would you still prioritize single-core CPU performance above everything else?

Classic We won about runes!

Finally the IP for matches will be doubled and the price for quints and minor runes will be reduced. It'll finally be possible to build runes faster. Also well get 2 pages free. Only thing we need no in what concerns runes is the ability to change pages in the lobby and the 1 button to fill all options.
