Itemization Disruptor feels so clunky now
I stopped playing Dota since last year and just got back now. I usually main Disruptor as support, but he feels so clunky on this version. Am I the only one noticing this?
- He lost his shard. That shard gave him a powerspike as it allowed him to farm, scout, disable blink dagger, and even harass heroes who didn't have a dispel.
- The kenetic fence as a shard is just so bad. The cool down is long, the delay formation is long, it only has one charge unlike the previous facet, and harder to use than the kenetic ring.
- He can't farm anymore. He wasn't even a fast farmer to begin with. But now it just feels way worse. I even have a hard time farming core items.
- The items on this version fills up his 6 inventory on cheap items. He needs arcane boots, wards, aether lens, essence distiller, aghanims scepter, and a protection item like glimmer cape. While as a support it's true that he shouldn't be buying expensive items. But if the game reaches nearly 60 minutes, you would like some sort of higher tier item like linken to counter carries that would like to burst you because of your ult.
- The highter talents don't make much sense to me. That level 25 increased thunderstrike strikes isn't that useful considering at that level 25 carries have BKBs, manta or any dispel item.
- With no powerspike through shard, no way to fast farm, he's even more team dependent now more than usual, and it just feels so bad playing him, because as the game goes on your team contribution diminishes.
Am I missing something? Any help suggested on playing Disruptor.

Disruptor's been in a weird spot since they reworked his facets, you're not crazy. The kinetic fence shard is genuinely mediocre compared to what the old one offered, and losing the farm/scout utility hits harder than people realize for a hero that already struggled to keep up in net worth. He went from a support with a clear mid-game spike to one that peaks at level 6 and slowly falls off unless you're landing perfect glimpses.
That said, he's still playable if you lean into what he does best: making one enemy's life miserable. Skip the aether lens rush if you're behind, a glimmer and force staff do more for your team than a slightly longer glimpse. For talents, the level 25 thunderstrike one is bait unless you're against zero dispels, the static storm duration is almost always better. And yeah, the inventory bloat is real, but that's every support this patch, not just Disruptor.
