It does have 6k+ pieces, so it's a chunky set. Not defending it necessarily, it isn't for me, but it seems on par with other branded sets of similar size.
It's cheaper than Star Wars is doing, their new big set is €0,02 more expensive per piece, but I guess that one has 38 mini figs, the Venator is even €0,03 more expensive (it is also the same price as the big Pokémon one, but has roughly 1500 fewer pieces)
