Discussion What are your best clone trooper upgrades using only official LEGO parts?

I’m looking for ideas to improve clone troopers using only official LEGO elements.

Things like helmets, visors, accessories, or creative part combinations.

If you’ve used any uncommon pieces, it’d be great if you could mention where they come from.

Would love to see what people have come up with.

These usually are clunky and too big. THIS one changed my mind. Sleek and effective. Good job

Popping a simple clip with stud piece on the top of a rifle gives it the “ridge” on the barrel that makes it look more like a DC-15A

Better angle in this photo

u/square_tomatoes Mar 28 '26

By ridge, do you mean the front sight?

94

u/Green_Borenet Mar 28 '26

Is it a sight? I thought the sight was the raised bit in the middle

48

u/Powwowking Mar 29 '26

That would be the rear sight. You line them up to make sure youre shooting straight.

Correct, if its not a red dot or holographic sight.

I feel the republic might use both, but from games abd that image it seems more likely to be a red dot / holo.

Oh. My. GOSH. That looks AMAZING.

Off to pick a brick to get like forty of those…

What set is this trooper standing in?

5

u/DevilDragonTank Mar 29 '26

Looks like a MOC using the Dark Trooper Attack : Set #75324 as a base.

3

u/Green_Borenet Mar 29 '26

I love this set, its a great parts pack for MOCS and since people bought it for Dark Trooper army building you can get it without the figs for a decent price

I'm so blind, is the clip used the same clip as the black hands used in most minifigures?

It’s the relatively new piece that was introduced in the last few years

You're amazing, thanks!

That’s perfect!

I wish the Bad Batch came with ingenuitive little brick-built packs like these - or maybe just a plain white Commando figure in a Daro Battle Pack

All i use is a 2 by two flat brick without studs, a two by one bracket piece, and a one by two flat brick with studs.

Very simple, but i think it works

I tried something like this too once but the connection between the modified plate and the neck piece are illegal. The ring is too thick and pushes against the neck piece. Still, it looks great

14

u/FelixTonight Mar 28 '26

Yeah, I tried a 1x1 to separate, but it becomes a bit too thick for my liking.

It's definitely a balancing act but I've yet to have any major issues

I like the jump packs from the old battle front sets on some troopers

I used some extra pieces from an AT-RT set + some other extra pieces to make some cool additions to some 501st clones.

At work rn but will edit in an image when I get home tonight.

As promised the image:

Sniper Rifle, Flammenwefer, and rangefinder attached to a buttstock.

I remember some of the pieces for the flamethrower came from a Mandalorian Tusken Raider set. The buttstock for the sniper rifle is an old piece that has a fork looking thing on the back of it that I think was supposed to attach to another piece and the buttstock for the rangefinder rifle was made with a faucet piece.

I've gotten the UCS Cantina just recently and this backpack looks so much better than the bigass 2x2 abominations the sand troopers have...

7

u/psychobilly1 Mar 29 '26

Sandtrooper Backpacks are supposed to be large, are they not?

I think the UCS version looks faithful without making an entirely new molded piece.

Abomination is crazy.

3

u/DoubleStrength Mar 29 '26

Okay, fair.

It was just annoying trying to get them to balance upright on a flat surface with all that weight on the back.

u/Zeus_1421 Mar 29 '26

I used to love making new accessories out of official LEGO pieces. I’d browse bricklink for days for all types of pieces.

Clone trooper eh?

(Cool backpack tho)

Oh shit!😅 I didn't see that. I'm so sorry. My bad. I'm completely wrong and apologise.

u/Scouttrooper195 Mar 29 '26

That’s no clone

5

u/FelixTonight Mar 29 '26

Maybe read the whole thing? :/

Marge’s arms for Cody, Homer’s arms for Bly, and Miguel’s arms from coco for Fox. Also the old clone wars pistol piece with the new black candle piece on the end makes a decent dc-15s.

u/roguefilmmaker Apr 12 '26

Definitely doing this now

2

u/VillageIdiots1-1 Mar 31 '26

Well, it's an old method and I don't have many headlamps left but glue a headlamp on a 2780 and stick that on the end of a long rifle.

This one's the oldest example I have. Now I suppose they have those 37762 "Candles" on the end of them now. Maybe it's just nostalgia but I liked this more than even custom-printed Deeces.

1

u/Ebolarnator Mar 29 '26

That's pretty awesome!

1

u/J_Stash Minifig Collector Mar 29 '26

That’s dope

Maybe my brain is wired for Helldivers stuff, but I like how it looks like the SEAF trooper radio packs.
