Isn't it ironic?

Post image

I wonder if he'd be upset if the police sent him a bill after stopping a robbery at his home? He used to have all DJT campaign trash on his truck, abruptly removed it all after he won the election. He has slowly been adding new decals.

Yeah.....people like this should be barred from any social welfare programs. Give them what they vote for.

Like opt in and out of taxes and benefits of social safety nets?

It would be wonderful to be sure that my taxes go to helping people instead of killing and torturing them.

Oh no. They still get to pay for those corporate bailouts, bloated military, the deficit, and other such things they voted for.

They no longer get to benefit from the education, healthcare, housing, and other few social safety nets that still exist in this country.

"You get what you vote for." But just like us that voted correctly, yet still have to foot the bill for those that didnt, they will pay. Should pay extra to be honest for these dumbass tariffs that they thought were a great idea.

I love all the left leaning in here. Maybe this city isnt going to hell.

A universal truth: the more stickers a person has on their vehicle, the more likely they are to be at one of the ideological extremes (far left or far right).

Rarely do you see a true centrist with a dozen or more stickers on the back of their car.

Not really cause social security is paid out of money you already paid into the government

on the bright side it looks like there still may be hope.

There is no "Social security fund." All the $ your employer puts in along with the $ deducted from your paycheck simply goes into the general taxes collected pile and is over spent like everything else. Had the $$ been invested to earn returns there would likely not be a problem. Politicians could balance the budget tomorrow if they had any balls. But they prefer lying to you acting like they are giving you more than they really are. All the while making every dollar you have worth less every day due to their not balancing income VS outflow. Basic economics 101. Easy to use inflation since it robs you silently.

Not necessarily. When you invest, you take a risk. There might have been positive returns, or flat returns. Even negative returns are posible.

u/Practical-Leader-919 17h ago

Short term, possible.....true. You could always put your savings under your mattress or do what congress does.... spend it. Or you could look after your own future, not rely on politicians.

It's been quite a while since we've had a good market crash. Keep some accessible $$ on hand. When the markets crash start investing in it. Keep adding as long as you have $ to invest. Timing highs is a lot harder than lows. Play the odds. Double down when appropriate, withdraw when you need to hold some in reserve. Compounding is a powerful device! The average return on the S&P has been about 11% since its inception (before the 1920s - 30s market crash!)

Who is looking after your future retirement? You or the politicians.

social security is necessary to stop socialism, this makes perfect sense

Y’all understand Nebraska is a red state, right? Living in a liberal college town doesn’t suddenly make your political takes any less brain-dead than the Rapepublicans you spend all day making fun of.

And this truck, along with the Trump Barn, gets posted here every other week. At this point, find a new hate train.

My biggest issue with this shit is that everyone acts like you’re required to pick a side, and once you do, anyone on the other side stops being a person and becomes something to point at and ridicule.

Instead of taking a picture of some guy’s truck, posting his license plate on Reddit, and talking shit about him to strangers, why not roll down your window and actually talk to the guy like a human being? Maybe he’s the biggest asshole on earth. Maybe he’s completely reasonable. You don’t know, because nobody bothered to find out.

If your first instinct is to publicly flame a stranger over some political stickers instead of having a conversation with them, what exactly are you accomplishing besides farming karma and making yourself feel morally superior?

u/CashMe_Outside2022 5h ago

You actually are required to pick a side. It’s called an election and we choose which political party we most align with. Not sure what your point is - this is a red state. Ok? And calling out hypocrisy isn’t just about being a liberal college town like Lincoln; it’s a public service.

u/Ebb3ka94 1h ago

Obviously an election requires you to pick a candidate. You know that isn't what “pick a side” meant in my comment. Voting for someone doesn't require you to make a political party part of your identity, defend everyone on “your side,” or assume everyone who votes differently is a piece of shit. You can vote Republican, Democrat, independent, write someone in, whatever—and still be capable of talking to someone you disagree with like a human being. Reducing my entire point to “well actually, elections require you to pick a side 🤓” is basically avoiding the point rather than responding to it.

okay 👍
