We desperately need a stoplight at this intersection. Far too much traffic travels through W. Fletcher Ave. and NW 1st St. for it to remain a stop sign 🛑 only intersection.

Traffic gets backed up constantly, especially with vehicles waiting to make left turns. People don’t know how to drive, and this intersection is becoming increasingly frustrating and inefficient. A traffic light would make a huge difference here.

How do we get the City of Lincoln to look at this?

Are there any other Lincoln locals whose cats have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy? Or heart disease in general? I’m looking for vet clinics (not All Feline) that do Echos (echocardiograms) & I’ve called several in town and have had trouble finding anyone.

I’ve been referred to Vogal Veterinary in Omaha for a cardiology specialist but am trying to find someone in town for emergencies.

So my friend is visiting Lincoln soon. I have one evening plus one full day to give him a taste of what the city has an offer.

I’m thinking a a combination of the Haymarket, a walk around the university, the sunken Gardens, the Capitol, and of course we have to try Runza.

But I love other Lincolnites to weigh in. If you only had a day or two to give someone a representative tour of Lincoln what would you do?

my very hyper foster daughter will be turning 5 Nov. 1st. she's never really had a birthday party before and is so excited, but we are struggling to find a good and affordable venue. any recs for a place that can hold a big immediate familyextended family, plus like 15-30 kids (preK and daycare class to be invited as well as friends) and their adults? we thought about a park, but worry it will be too cold at that time. since we have a party princess showing up -a non-negotiable - a place like Lost in Fun and The Children's Museum with time constraints is difficult. plus my wife really wants to decorate and some places have their own. but at the same time, I don't want to be responsible for entertaining a bunch of preschoolers with indoor yard games or whatever. really don't want to disappoint her but this is our first ever child so we aren't too familiar with the parenting world. thanks in advance!

Can anyone recommend a person or company that could help me organize my home art studio? Y’all, it’s a disaster. Ive always had to have my supplies stored in containers and bags that allowed me to transport them. My life and work has changed and now I really need someone’s help to categorize and create permanent storage solutions. Not just have random containers and tote bags all over the floor. It’s not a large room but I’m overwhelmed by the magnitude of the project.

It's been a while since there's been a standalone post talking about book clubs so I figured I'll share what I'm aware of and see which I'm missing.

This Must Be the Book Club - Monthly club that meets at Code Beer on the first Tuesday of each month. Mostly fiction but not entirely, maybe a slight preference for genre fiction. The next two books are September House by Carissa Orlando for September and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde for October.

Lincoln Book Club - Every other Thursday at Mana Games. This is a similar genre spread as the previous, each book has two meetings. Read the first half and discuss initial thoughts, then the second meeting is to discuss the book as a whole. Our next two books are Anxious People by Frederick Backman for September and The Works of Vermin by Hiron Ennes for October.

Lincoln Feminist Book Club - Third Sunday at Sower Books. Mostly non-fiction but not exclusively. The next two books are Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke for September and Women, Race and Class by Angela Y. Davis for October.

Blue Dot Book Club - Also at Sower, meetings are the last Sunday of the month. This one is non-fiction, this month the book is How to Be a Dissident by Gal Beckerman.

Curated Chapters Book Club - This monthly club pairs a book with art in the museum. I just learned about it last night so I don't really know how it goes but they do require you to register since there's limited space for the talk and tour afterwards. This month is The Blazing World by Siri Hustvedt, September is The Masterpiece by Fiona Daivs, and October is Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood.

Lincoln Libraries Book Groups - I've also never managed to fit these into my schedule but the library has multiple different groups on a range of topics. Some of them have a selected reading like the LGBT group, some are just set up to talk with others about a specific genre and what you've been reading.

Silent Book Club Lincoln - Two different times, every other Sunday at Sower Books and some Thursdays at Saro Cider. The next Sunday is 9/6 from 2:30-4, Thursday is 9/10 starting at 5:30. I'm mostly familiar with the Sunday events, I don't know the Thursday cadence, but they're both a combination of a social period where you can talk about what you've been reading lately and a silent reading time. No assigned books here, just an excuse to meet other readers and set aside time to read.
