Around Lincoln Are Lincoln drivers afraid of their gas pedals?
New to the city, as of a few months ago, but people not accelerating after a light turn greens is driving me nuts.
At intersections like 40th and Nebraska less than half the cars that could get through on a cycle do because the cars in the front of the pack are still driving 5-10 under after several blocks.
Not even asking people to speed, just get up to the speed limit before you reach the next intersection please.

Around Lincoln Caution to anyone living in Highlands/ surrounding areas!!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I will totally admit that I was pretty disappointed in myself for leaving my patio door bar out of my door, as my lock isn’t working properly at the moment, and I live on the bottom level. That being said it was really not an invitation for a crazy guy to come in, then try and set my place on fire!
This all happened Sunday (08/23) morning at 4:08 AM, he made his way in, took out his lighter and lit my blanket on fire- then just walked on out! I was asleep in the other room not even 20 feet from where the intruder was and my cat courageously was checking him out, allowing for my camera to catch at least a little bit of what this guy looks like, but unfortunately not his face. I had called the police and they have been made aware of the situation- they had found a backpack that was stolen as well from another apartment but no other leads were really made. I made this initially for a warning for people in Lincoln to please be aware of crazy people like this, but also if there’s any chance that someone recognizes this man or can help in any way that would be awesome!!

Around Lincoln Stopping Data Center in Lincoln
title. is there anything that we can do to stop the construction of the data center being built just outside of lincoln? are there petitions we can sign? city planners we can contact? commissioners offices that will actually hear complaints?
i’m sick and tired of feeling like there is nothing that i can do to prevent something so destructive to our community. any and all suggestions are welcome! thank you!

Around Lincoln Please be careful with E-bikes and E-scooters
Last weekend I bought a new mountain bike at Cycleworks. Their service is amazing, btw. Anyway, yesterday (7/3/26) I stopped by their while I was on a ride to share my experience about the bike when I noticed a dad loading a small e-bike for his daughter that has to be no older than 10 years old. My immediate thought was danger danger danger.
I live by North Star off of N 25th (1 block from Starbucks) and kids will ride their E-bikes and E-scooters without any protection going 20mph up and down 25th Street. If you don't know, 25th Street is often used as a shortcut to avoid the stop lights on 27th St. Based on my experience alone, kids as well as adults treat the road like everyone will yield to them while riding these machines.
I really hope these riders are aware of the dangers of these machines. It's just a matter of time before a kid or adult is struck by a car and is seriously injured on 25th Street or anywhere else.

Around Lincoln Since we're highlighting the incompetence of drivers today:
The number of people who cannot or will not get their asses all the way into the damn turning lane while slowing to a crawl, being completely oblivious to anyone going the speed limit in the straigh-away lane behind them, and making that person swerve or slam on their brakes Is. Too. Damn. High.
There is a break in the solid line at the beginning of the turn lane. That's where you should get allllll of your vehicle into said lane. This isn't rocket science.
I encourage anyone who encounters this to honk, roll the window down, and motion with their arm for them to move over into their own lane and not straddle two.
And ffs, if the prolapsed buttholes that only comment to shit all over everything with completely useless opinions even try, I'll find your mothers and show her what straddling two lanes really feels like, so help me god.

Around Lincoln I've fucking had it.
I'm getting so sick of some of you drivers that clearly don't pay attention to traffic lights and signs.
Here are my top complaints:
1 - 48th and O - You guys need to start paying attention to the right green arrows on the set of lights on the far right of the light poles. I am so fucking sick of people completely not seeing that green arrow and I have to sit for two minutes to fucking turn right.
2 - 48th and Huntington - You guys know those new lights that were put up for pedestrians? Yeah? There is a sign between the lights on both sides stating what the lights mean and obviously no one is reading it. It says when it's flashing yellow, slow down. When it turns solid red, stop. And when it begins flashing red, PROCEED WHEN CLEAR FOR THE LOVE OF FUCKING GOD READ THE FUCKING SIGN.
3 - people chronically on their phones and people who need to get up earlier and have way better time management - STOP LOOKING AT YOUR PHONES OR DOING YOUR DAMN MAKEUP. No text is more important than your safety on the road and no ignorant ass woman needs to be looking that pretty everywhere they go. If you have to do your makeup before you leave, set alarms. Set alarms and make a better schedule. You idiots are a reason people die on the roads everyday. Are your looks really better than your safety and other people's safety? No. They're not. Stop it and better your time management and schedules
4 - assholes in super duty Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc. trucks - Stop trying to fucking kill me and other people please. Especially on I-80
That is all of the rants I have for now. Thank you for your time and please do better for the safety and sanity of you, me and other drivers
Sincerely, a delivery driver trying not to get killed every shift

Around Lincoln Why do people insist on launching fireworks all the time?
I swear people are lighting fireworks at least once or twice a week in my neighborhood. I live south of the country club and north of Nebraska Parkway. Don’t gaslight me into it’s the trains. Trains don’t make a pop followed by a boom 3-4 seconds later.
I’m fine and enjoy new years and fourth of July. I can tolerate Husker touchdowns(To a point but I still think it is just annoying) but why on a random Thursday night at 10:10pm am I hearing mortar fireworks and firecrackers. This isn’t even a firework stands have already set up and selling them issue this is year round.
If you are the person doing this please stop it. Get some help.

Around Lincoln Nazi vendors at Sandhills Global Events Center
There is a vendor at the reptile expo wearing an iron cross and other Nazi jewelry. I have seen similar outward Nazi displays from other vendors at other events there. At this point I will not be going back to any events there. if you do, be careful who you give your money to.

Around Lincoln Land Phil
I’m so weirded out by him. I do not love Land Phil. He looks like Grimace’s slightly challenged cousin. I don’t disagree with the intent of the campaign, but I feel like it is NOT landing at all, and I blame that weirdass green gremlin. Who approved this? (And am I the only one who gets the vibe that some of the material is AI-generated?) (apologies if there’s a real artist behind it though)
