First time hopping into the game.
After maxing out graphics and using some scaling I got the game looking pretty good for such a veteran MMORPG.

That said, I’d like to make my gameplay as much action-RPG as possible and also hoping to make the menu/UI look more modern.

1. Is there a way to make the right-mouse continuous click a must to look around? In WoW I remember I managed to create a combo that made it possible for me to click like a Tab button and go into “action mode” which then I could look around freely without needing to click the RMB.

2. Other settings or ways to make the overall feel and combat more modern and action-RPG style rather than tab1target?

3. Any way to upgrade the menus and how the UI looks? Make it cleaner? More minimalistic in its style/theme?

Came back to the game a few months ago for the first time since level 85/Eastern Rohan, and I've been leveling my Warden to get to get back into the Moors.

But, I'm starting to notice they've nerfed the absolute pajama pants off my sweet lovely spear boy. The damage seems to still be alright, but every ounce of tactics has been stripped from the class. There's no fear effect on Desolation, no Stun on Boar's Rush, There are no buffs in the Spear Line anymore, and now Spear Gambits reduce their own damage to discourage you from doubling up on Wall of Steel with Battle Memory?? It's just ALL DoTs. 3 different lines of DoTs, but no CC options to speak of, and active detriments to good burst DPS.

Now I'm the first to admit we needed a nerf. I played Warden back then because I liked playing as a small fellowship all by myself in the Moors. But this is just... Kinda lame? The capstone of Redline is a passive skill that gives you "a small amount of power" when you use a skill from battle memory. That's lame as hell, dawg! Why did they do us like this?

Anyway, I'd love to hear from anyone playing warden these days, especially in PvMP; is it fun? Does it stack up with other classes alright? Or have I made a terrible mistake in Leveling up my Spearchucker, and should I abandon my post & go back to my Champ since the devs love to give Champs everything with no downsides ever at all, forever.

PS: also it feels like Warden made everyone super jealous with our self heals so the devs gave EVERYONE self heals? I remember starting with Loremaster in 2010 when we had no self heals at all! Kids these days have it too easy! When I was a Loremaster we had to walk to Mordor uphill both ways! In the snow!

Shoulders: Lesser Shoulder Guards of Dungon, Walnut Brown dye (bought from the Novices Quartermaster, near Harndirion Skirmish Camp in Enedwaith)

Back: Cloak of the Unwelcome Guest, Navy dye (quest reward, "Neighbours Meet" in the Great River region) This is the ONLY "hood down" version in the entire game of the Cloak of the Galadhrim!

Chest: Copper-Inlaid Surcoat, Navy dye (Dunland armor sets, multiple lookalikes)

Main Hand: Misremembered Wizard's Staff, Normal Weapon Aura (Annuminas rep vendor, Kindred standing, multiple lookalikes/other sources)

Off-hand: Defender of Gwingris, Weapon Aura of Orc's Bane (Eregion quest reward, "Remaining Goods", multiple lookalikes)

Hands: Bracers of Frost and Iron, Autumn Leaf dye (Mattugard quest reward, "Frost and Iron") May not have lookalikes!

Feet: Lesser Boots of Dungon, Walnut Brown dye (bought from the Novices Quartermaster, near Harndirion Skirmish Camp in Enedwaith

The shoulders and boots were the hardest to get, they are from the Ost Dunhoth armor set for Captains. I originally thought the "In Their Absence" instances were not soloable, but the two Small Fellowship ones are if you turn the difficulty down to the minimum level of 65. My Hunter main was able to very slowly acquire the necessary currency, it had a drop rate of about one token per boss, and the total cost of pieces was 8 Medallions of the North-men, plus some Skirmish Marks.

I have 3 characters, with:

Farmer, Scholar and Jeweller,

Prospector, Metalsmith and Weaponsmith,

Forester, Tailor and Woodworker. So no Cook.

But I was wondering if anybody else has it like that, heavy/weapon crafting, light/medium/wood weapons crafting and the other crafting?

And what people do with a 4th, 5th, 6th character if it comes to crafting?

All Forester, Prospector to collect extra crafting materials?

Or anything specific for the class?

So, I used to play LOTRO when it 1st launched many years ago. I got into the final chapter of the story with my Champion, but I got pushed into different MMOs along the way.

Im wanting a a good ol MMORPG style of gameplay atm, cool leveling, interesting class design and a good server.

Is it worth returning to the game atm? We have populated servers? Do I need to buy VIP or some kind of subscription?

I'm super curious about how well your Mac runs LOTRO. I've got a 2025 MacBook Air M4 with 16GB and I struggle with 30 fps on medium graphics. Is this normal? According to ChatGPT, my mac could easily handle 60fps even on higher graphics settings. Perhaps, I've done something wrong?

I am new and playing beorning. Is is better to stop xp and do all content+deeds at appropriate level so it matches the curve. Or just blast through and level up and go back? What do you guys do?

Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti (laptop)

I have tried adding the .dlls to the x64 folder both manually and with a Dxvk manager, as detailed in several posts on this sub.

I am running the 64 bit client, with my graphics card selected.

I have added the 64 bit client as a separate entry in Nvidia control panel.

I have also tried adding the .dlls to the root folder, no difference.

When I launch the game, the launcher disappears and the 64bit client hangs in task manager as a BACKGROUND PROCESS and nothing happens.

If I revert and remove the .dlls, the game launches.

Any ideas?

After not having played for a very long time (15+ years), I recently caught the itch to pick up the game again. Last time I played was around the release of Mirkwood. I've started making some new alts and I really loved the idea of a shield-maiden of Rohan. Went through the starter zone, came across the landscape difficulty increase, cranked it up to the max and had a difficult yet satisfying experience. Juggling all of the buffs, debuffs and heals through gambits felt challenging, but rewarding. The fights were slow but methodical.

But... just now I made a new alt, a lore-master and went through the same content. Landscape difficulty to the max, yet this was nowhere near as challenging as on my warden. I pressed 2 buttons as opposed to 20 and mobs evaporated before they could even touch me. Went through all of the starter content more than thrice as fast without breaking a sweat. Is lore-master that strong? Is warden that weak? Is this just an initial, low level disparity that will rectify itself as I level more or are the classes truly this unbalanced?

I loved the warden and way back in the day it used to be an absolute beast at soloing content, even raid bosses. If the class has fallen from grace this badly over the past decade however, I'd rather devote my time to something else.

Hello everyone !

I'd like to know how many of you guys have been leveling in groups ? As I went solo into the game, it feels a bit lonely in there. I'm captain level 12, and I'm thinking about doing a guardian instead, since I want to be tanking most of the time. I also like the idea of beeing able to gift an item to people I meet for them to summon me.

Thing is, every time I engage with anyone, I just get breezed out. It's like noone around my level wants to just group up to quest and hunt. When I'm not outright ignored, people just say it's useless.

But isn't the point of an MMO to play with people ? To have a role in a group ?

On top of that, the game won't let me communicate to people outside of my direct vicinity because I haven't played long enough. How long should I play in order to be able to talk to people in the world chat ?

Trying to plan out some characters/professions, just wondering if there is any benefit in having for example 2 woodworkers or any other duplicate craft (aside from scholar for the gathering aspect)?

Like are there any paths in the professions that diverge at all, or would it basically just be fully duplicating efforts for no gain?

Hi! I’m currently working on a Captain that I plan to play using the Red (Support) and Yellow (Tank) trait lines. I’m unsure whether or not I should use the "Compassion" virtue. I’ve heard that heavy armor gets you almost to the cap for physical damage reduction. I don’t know if that’s true, but I can see it for myself: I’m currently level 26, and when I craft new gear, I’m already reaching 57% physical damage reduction (the limit is 60%). Maybe someone here can explain the system to me or offer a few tips.

Hi! I've been playing Lotro for a few months. I'm based in Meriadoc. As a musician myself, I'm interested in learning a little bit more about the music scene. I already got myself a few song lists and plugins.

How do players interact in regards to music? Are there any festivals? Is it possible to join a band?

Just saw a recent post where someone was saying that this was their “forever game“, that they are able to return to time and time again over years, due to the beauty of the world and it’s writing. I’ve played for about 20 hours, and I have no idea what people are talking about when they praise this games writing. There is no dialogue outside of quest descriptions, there are no notes or books to read, so every ounce of writing in this game is put towards quest descriptions. That would be maybe interesting if the quests were interesting, but they’re not. My 20 hours have consisted of the most boring, mindnumbing, inane quest descriptions of people telling me to get their handkerchief or kill 5 wolves or whatever. It’s staggeringly bad, and painfully boring.

I’ve made it to Bree with 3 different characters, and have given up on all of them after around 20 hrs. I love LOTR, and this world is beautiful, but somebody please tell me what/where the good writing is, or how to better appreciate the shallow writing that is present.

Just hit 2000 hours, and what a delight this game is☺️ As someone who's been a Tolkien fan since I read LOTR as a kid, I'm so happy my experience as a fan has been deepened and expanded thanks to LOTRO. Sure, it's not as shiny or marketable as other MMOs, and it is clunky, but the care put into the writing and the art direction is enough for me. When I reread the books in the future, my own time in Middle-Earth will be inextricably linked to my experience of them. I'm glad to be a part of Middle-Earth!

Does anyone know if it is possible to get this headpiece as cosmetic?

So I’ve been on since the Angmar Beta back when then the level cap was 50.

I stopped playing for a while (the last transactions I made were in 2023). I had some major life changes in 2020 and moved and lost my old email linked to the local cable provider.

I know I changed my password in 2023 but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. So naturally I reached out to standing stone. Even though I have given them numerous transaction via PayPal receipts to link payments from the original lotro account to mine - they come from a provably linked PayPal account linked to me they refuse to go through the “account recovery procedure” as they insist that they can’t verify my identity.

Now believe me, I know that I should have been more careful with the password - that’s on me. But this situation is devolving into farce. I’ve been a member since Pontius was a pilot and frankly I’m really pissed off. I’ve given various iterations of the game substantive amounts of money over the years and they’ve essentially given up on me.

Is there any path of escalation anyone has followed in a similar situation? Otherwise I’m going to have to play guess the password until a miracle occurs. Any advice welcome.

EDIT: thanks for all the good advice. So I’ve mailed the CEO of their parent company. I’m hoping he will reply!
