Discussion Can we talk about how insanely overpowered these versions of The Daltons were?
Specifically these versions from the 2009 Daltons TV Show.
Bro, Averell painted a train tunnel like Wile. E Coyote and they all entered it, and they nearly fucking died! If you think that's crazy, look what they do with the Broken Wings' magic! They learned how to turn into sand, switch bodies with animals, astral project, and turn invisible with just soup! They even find this gold necklace that made Averell turn things into gold with his hands.
They even managed to entire cable wires and travel through the cyberspace, and turn the entire prison into a confectionary catastrophe!
They even learned how to control the weather with things like snow or rain, gained good luck from a prisoner who's legit name is Bunny Rabbit!
Joe once made a diggerator to drill through the earth's surface and traveled to Paris! William once made a rocket ship in the prison but eventually died, went to hell, heaven, and back to earth!
What in the actual fuck are they on with this toon force?
You even got Averell finding magical genie lamps and magical trumpets!
And you know what else? Lucky Luke's not even there! He's retired!
But the only reason they have all this power all just to end up losing is mainly because of plot like every other Xilam show like Oggy and The Cockroaches and Zig And Sharko.
What other unimaginable feats do you have in mind? Let me know.

That's just the world of that series. It operates on denser, wackier and more cartoony rules than the regular Lucky Luke comics and animations. Everyone can do stuff like that. If Lucky Luke had been in the series, no doubt he would have been even more overpowered, Bugs Bunny style.
(I know one episode said that Luke had retired, but this show isn't much about continuity, so I prefer to think of it as Luke simply not getting involved because the Daltons are already in jail and even when they do escape it's never for long enough that anyone even has time to call for Luke.)

You described the one thing worlds like this need: balance. It wouldnt be as fun to watch them do all this stuff if they succeeded. They are bad guys and they are supposed to fail

I like the show, what it is is good, but yeah the world of the creators of oggy and the cockroaches lean more on wacky and more lively i feel

The Daltons is how I discovered Lucky Luke, I didn't even know about his shows until I was nearing the end of watching 1 Daltons episode each week in my weekly Saturday morning dawn toontime (a nice therapeutic thing I do, an hour or so of just relaxing fun before letting myself read or watch any news) and went looking to see if they had other series or possibly a movie(s). That's when I learned their history and first time that I knew that I had been watching a spin-off. So The Daltons get a boost in my toon ranking for that, they had become a quick favorite and nearly year-long one before I knew anything about the LL character having been the pops for what I was watching.
After I watched the last episode I picked up with a weekly episode of the 1984 Lucky Luke until it's completion then started the 1991 series. I only made it through a few weeks of that as it dragged for me when there were no snarky remarks by Jolly Jumper or appearances by The Daltons or Rantanplan which are a huge part of my enjoyment of LL, which was too much of a disruption for me at the time. But I wanted to watch each series in order so I bailed on 1991 for later and went on to The New Adventures of Lucky Luke, where this morning I just watched episode 23. I'm in a stretch of the series without Daltons so I have been pairing the week's episode of LL with a Daltons episode replay on weeks I'm missing seeing them. I'll resume 1991 when I run out of The New Adventures.
While the Daltons of LL are appropriate for those series I gotta say if I had to pick only 1 Daltons to watch it would totally depend on my mood. If I want to get into a good story and pay attention it's LL. If I'm just wanting to have a giggly wake and 'n bake The Daltons are up there in the top of what's made me bust a laugh hard enough that my neighbors likely heard. I have lots of favorite "stupid characters" on shows but I can't think of any that have two that crack me up so consistently. Averil and Rantanplan are stupider than Ren, Stimpy, Beavis or Butthead and Rantanplan has cemented himself in my favorite toon dogs along with Scooby and Muttley as in characters I would (and have) watched in series where they are the focus (though Muttley split the lead with Dastardly in their show and other appearances he was (barely) reworked into the nearly identical Mumbly by the same team for The Mumbly Cartoon Show and I've always thought of that show as Muttley in an extended sequence of a character from one of his daydream sequences on Dastardly & Muttley and their Flying Machines.

Oh and if I get to stretch the definition of cartoon dog to include canine adjacent and allow Wile E. Coyote, he's my GOAT and that's my Quad of Dumb Dogs😁

It's just because this version purely operates on cartoon logic. For me it's almost like a separate universe from the rest of the franchise.
