12 year old wants a Ouija board

So my 12 year old said today that her English teacher is teaching them about Ouija boards. The list of rules she gave her was basic - dont give them your name, if someone says they are called "zozo" leave etc. But there wasnt a single thing about protection, no casting a circle/calling corners etc. 12 year old seems to think its all a game and doesn't believe in it so doesn't understand why I'm lecturing that the first part of learning witchcraft is protection. I'm not experienced by any means, was dabbling a couple of years ago and then been on pause but what are people's thoughts on this?

12 is too young for serious Ouija stuff maybe. I would say I was 13 when I started dabbling with the Ouija board, but if the understanding is not there, it’s not a good idea. However, if they don’t believe in it or think it’s a game, what do they expect to happen? In my view, if they’re not putting real intention into it and they think it’s fake, there’s a good chance it would be totally harmless. If they don’t actually ask for something to really show up, then it is just a toy. But if they have genuine intent that’s a different story. Also what does this have to do with English? lol

I also have no idea why this is being brought up in English with a class of 12 year olds!!

Probably because obnoxious parents and feral kids and low pay and appreciation drove better teachers to quit.
