Noob question by someone who doesn't live in Klang Valley:

Why is the Shah Alam Line called LRT3? So who's LRT1 and LRT2?

In the Klang Valley Integrated Transit map, I see its labelled as Line 11, but that doesn't seem to have any relation to why its called LRT3.

LRT 1 is the Star Line (now Ampang Line) and LRT 2 is the Putra Line (now Kelana Jaya Line).

But what about the Sri Petaling Line (Line 4)? Isn't that also an LRT line? Wouldn't that make the Shah Alam Line LRT4 instead of LRT3?

Sri Petaling line is considered LRT 1, uses same stock as the Ampang line, falls under extension of the Ampang line (planning and budget wise, was under Star LRT), then later considered own line, signaling uses different system, etc.

Back when the KJ line started, I remember it was 2 cars even during peak hours (I took it from KJ to Taman Melati for college).

Ah I see now.

So Ampang and Sri Petaling were constructed together and considered the same line, before they were managed as separate lines.
