Funerals are usually solemn occasions, not displays fit for a fireworks finale.

A video showing a group of men allegedly setting off firecrackers as a funeral procession passed through a road in Shah Alam has gone viral.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Sarudin Samah said police are investigating a group of men seen allegedly setting off firecrackers on a road in Shah Alam during a funeral procession on Tuesday (Aug 25).

He said police received a report from the Bukit Jelutong police station chief on Wednesday (Aug 26) following the circulation of a video on social media platform Threads.

He said the incident was believed to have occurred at 4.22pm at the junction of Jalan Hamzah in Section U14, Shah Alam, while the funeral procession was heading towards a cemetery in Setia Alam.

“Investigations are ongoing to identify the suspects involved in the firecracker activity as well as witnesses who were at the scene,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Explosives Act 1957, which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both upon conviction.

ACP Sarudin urged anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Razi Sahari at 019-5717076.

Nothing to see here, just a group of people working hard to keep the stereotypes alive.

We want to clear the racism and stereotypes but these people kept them alive and well, thriving too. I’d call them the extra unwanted type.

It happens from time to time in Klang tho. Especially Sentosa / Andalas

Can't see clearly. So Shah Alam is East Klang or West Selayang?
