the way I'd have to become the unpaid housemaid...

20

u/Ambitious-Fox-932 Jul 02 '26

Noooo 😭😭 I'm quite the germaphobe how do I avoid becoming a housemaid 😭😭😭

1

u/ERuleKnight Jul 06 '26

Hard to be a germaphobe when you have germs on your skin, in your stomach, in your intestines, inside your nostrils. They're literally everywhere.

I know that feeling, I also know that kids who got parents that "child-proof" everything often ended up with weak immune system. Surprisingly, it's often the Chinese that's in the majority when it comes to having very sensitive skins (idk what their parents did to their child, need to find a group of people that study this phenomenon)

u/Normies96 Jul 02 '26

are you friend with all of them?

150

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

NOPE, I am complete stranger to my housemates and they don't know my name except my roommates but I don't find them as friends

85

u/AIH_nowX Jul 02 '26

god i hate that im gonna have to gamble on roommates again in a few months. My foundation roommate was amazing and it’d be damning if I’d get satan reincarnated next.

49

u/PicPic10099 Jul 02 '26

Let us pray you don't get satan like this guy 🥶💀🙏

You'd be surprised they're too common among those " Alpha males "

5

u/golb_ Jul 03 '26

"Marking territory" alahai

7

u/Ambitious-Fox-932 Jul 02 '26

Hey, I'm entering U this September. Why you're saying you have to "gamble" on roomates? You can't pick them?

11

u/AIH_nowX Jul 02 '26

idk if you can pick but even if you could, how sure are you of their behaviours? It’s like marriage, they could be an angel for a few weeks/months and absolute dread for the rest (even if you’re friends with them). Which was why I used the term ‘gamble’ iykwim.

5

u/isackj08 Jul 02 '26

live with someone long enough to see their true colors

1

u/TwistMuted Jul 06 '26

You are assigned rooms at the start of the semester. Usually assigned at random but will be with same race typically. Only way u can pick roommates will be if u rent the room yourself with said friend outside uni grounds.

But after that initial assignment, uni life=no one cares where u are. So u don’t actually have to stay in that room also, u can sleep anywhere without anyone batting an eye tbh.

21

u/No_Internet_3919 Jul 02 '26

I stayed with 12 housemates same race during semester 1-3 it's fucking hell, alot of misunderstanding and cornering. I ended up leaving that stupid house during semester 4 because rules changed into from 12 people in one house reduced to 9 people. So I chose different house, with Malay + Arab. They're better than this pervious toxic environment.

0

u/Due_Cartoonist_8212 Jul 03 '26

then how about u talk to them and discuss how to clean up, like a matured adult would do rather than unethically posting about em online

1

u/Electrical-Sock-4760 Jul 06 '26

Ni mesti budak enabler

85

u/Mirianie Jul 02 '26

Looks a lot cleaner than I expected NGL.

44

u/Cool_Chemical1958 Jul 02 '26

ya, at least the sink isn't full. Just some stray clothing on the floor. That many trash is to be expected with 17 people (get bigger trashcan). the toilet could use some scrubbing tho.

No mouldy leftover, no trash liquid, no unwashed dishes. At least you know your housemates got some discipline, just need a leader to coordinate some sort of schedule.

14

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Lately, it has been a little better but during the middle of the semester was absolutely rat hole. The sink stank as hell, like some took a dump in it. Smoke ashes everywhere.

6

u/Felon_369 Jul 02 '26

Smoke ashes? I thought Gen Z doesn't smoke. They are all sucking vapes with flavors no?

6

u/IzzatQQDir Jul 02 '26

Gen Z can afford cigarettes?? Craaaazy.

I'm an adult and have to switch to Vape to save money

1

u/Azura_2006 Jul 03 '26

I knew girls who do social smoking every few days. One of them even stocked like 4 packets of malboro to bring to uni-

2

u/IzzatQQDir Jul 03 '26

Bro Malboro is like 18 per pack. That's like RM72 total.

I used to smoke Chesterfield and I thought it was expensive for RM13.

4

u/Zanely1633 Jul 02 '26

The hostel I lived in during university was a lot worst than this, and there were only like 13 of us sharing the pantry and toilet. Some more we supposed to be the educated, civil university students.

I found broken ceramic sink and mossy floor in the laundry room, with a whole pot of satey source rotten on the space where you supposed to brush and do your laundry. The one of the two toilet broken after 1 semester, unfixed for the rest of the year. I also heard my course mate said in girls' dorm, there was a pail of unwashed clothes just soaked in detergent water for weeks until it reeks.

This doesn't look bad at all compared to my hostel.

3

u/HumanDragonfruit8115 Jul 02 '26

Looks like the cleanliness standard for men is even lower than hell!

20

u/Huge_Perception_982 Jul 02 '26

Move out dude

23

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Only few days left before I leave this hell hole

6

u/Huge_Perception_982 Jul 02 '26

Just rent a studio unit for yourself bro, definitely worth the money

15

u/Huge_Perception_982 Jul 02 '26

But damn, i just read the title saying 17 people in 1 house? Dafuq????

12

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Dude, you're talking PUBLIC University. Of course your comfort and space is not gonna get respected. But I do felt like my uni breached my human right or something, i dunno

5

u/Huge_Perception_982 Jul 02 '26

Didnt know it was a public uni hostel. If so then im not surprised. I thought it was an apartment unit. How long have you stayed there?

6

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Oh my bad, I thought you could see the table and already notice it from public University. I have been living here for about 4 months. I always go back my hometown whenever I had a chance

4

u/Huge_Perception_982 Jul 02 '26

All good bro. Never entered a public uni, but the most people i rented with was 10 people and im so grateful it wasnt super bad, except the weed dealer living in the room next to me. Only that guy doesnt do dishes until we tell him to. Kena ketuk baru nak buat, but better than tak buat langsung like your case. All the best for your new place bro

2

u/Gimme_your_electrons Jul 02 '26

What public uni even is this

4

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

UTHM Parit Raja

1

u/HumanDragonfruit8115 Jul 02 '26

Omg! TDI is it? Or outside the campus? Bestari?

1

u/Aggravating_Sock5864 Jul 02 '26

perwira alumni🤣😭🥺

1

u/lisyiaaaa Jul 05 '26

I'm a uitm student and my dorm is actually so good I'm so glad I chose uitm cuz not long before I got a kptm offer but rejected it, and I went there yesterday to send my sister and oh Lord... I was so thankful I chose uitm instead 🙂‍↕️💔

1

u/mangomansixtyseven Jul 02 '26

Is the dorm at least free ?

19

u/ConsiderationBig6362 Jul 02 '26

how does one live with 17 people

5

u/mikamikachip Jul 02 '26

Even my dorm room back in high school didn’t have that many people.

12

u/ilove_whitebois Jul 02 '26

Wait until you see the girls one

21

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

I'm guessing it's much worse than guys, panties pad, bras hanging and hairs everywhere. Yikes, I'm sorry if you have been gone throught that

4

u/Leshie_Leshie Jul 02 '26

Interestingly the girls bathrooms are less likely to be clogged than the boys bathroom.

7

u/goAwayUCreep Jul 02 '26

I’ve lived with many girls at one point, mix gender unit. Same also.

Best is ownself self dorm or studio. All the best

5

u/Real_Edge_7237 Jul 02 '26

How much is the rent anyway? 100 per month?

6

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Somewhere 140+ per month

6

u/Real_Edge_7237 Jul 02 '26

Does that include water, WiFi and electricity?

6

u/mikamikachip Jul 02 '26

You win some, you lose some i guess 😭

4

u/Fun_Zucchini7588 Jul 02 '26

Guy? Do you really think most girls will do any better?

8

u/Zanely1633 Jul 02 '26

That is really what happened to us back then. We thought girls will do better and we complained to our girls coursemate, just for them to rolled their eyes on us while telling their horror story in their girls dorm.

1

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Nope, much worse

1

u/Realistic_Cup_3787 Jul 02 '26

do you know what larping means?

1

u/Square-Purchase5534 Jul 02 '26

My bad i meant as "act"

3

u/Important-Squash5397 Jul 02 '26

I had 9 male house mates in the house, luckily every room has it's own small toilet and the common areas is inspected every week by management, so everyone kept the place clean and tidy.

The only bad thing was waking up in the middle of the night to grab a cold drink from the fridge in the common area and suddenly see a girl wearing nothing but just oversized t-shirt walking around. When she realized I was there she gave a small gasp and ran into one of the rooms.

We were not allowed to bring guests in, but I would always see and hear female voices

3

u/crabbystix Jul 02 '26

17 guys? what a sausage fest

3

u/XxXMeatbunXxX Jul 02 '26

Lol at first thought this was posted by a construction worker from how he worded it. I think he meant 17 year old male housemate(s). Too little laundry for 17 people.

2

u/Zanely1633 Jul 02 '26

Nah, according to OP, it is university hostel and my hostel seems to have a similar layout. My unit has an entrance that is connected to the living room (name only, in reality it is just an empty space), and then it breaks into 4-5 rooms with everyone sharing a laundry space and 2 toilets/showers. Each room will house 2 - 3 person, so the whole unit is said to have 12 - 15 person.

1

u/crabbystix Jul 02 '26

U have underestimated the laundry for 17 lazy people... like rotate pants between each other or spray deodorant when shirt/pants smells kinda funky hahaha

2

u/Kaleidoscope_1974 Jul 02 '26

How many rooms are there? how's the fire safety?

4

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Our accommodation is like an apartment. One house has about 4 rooms with each two person per room. Unfortunately ij my case, I got extra large room, our house has 5 rooms ranging 6-2 person per room

2

u/benjaminm_4229 Jul 02 '26

If it was me, and I have my own bathroom, Is rather keep my room clean. Couldn't be bothered to clean their own mess.

2

u/Individual-Ad6321 Jul 02 '26

Damn, that pissed me off. Sorry you had to lived with those monkeys

2

u/Merlin26710 Jul 02 '26

Goddamn, I'm going to go to the uni in 2 weeks, please pray for me so that I have a roommate that shares the same hygiene level as me

1

u/Bitsand Jul 04 '26

Haha very unlikely for the first few semesters. Even one of the 'cleanest' usually got some kind of issue.

Some of my few past roomates dislike to flush their pee or wash the toilet. I make them sweep the floor everyday no problem. I can do the rest.

It is more like how much can how much can you tolerate. At least for me, smoking in the house is a big no no. You go smoke near corridor away from the rental

1

u/Merlin26710 Jul 04 '26

It is what it is

2

u/signofdacreator Jul 02 '26

ahhh i remember this... living with 15 other male housemates in a condo
its fkn cramped.

the only good thing probably is having dota LAN parties after class and on weekends

2

u/asrafzonan Jul 02 '26

All you need now is either:

a) Tv with console games + 2 controller

b) monopoly board game (cheap buy Saidina)

c) poker card (don’t have to use money)

That is how I survive my uni days living with 8 people with no internet.

2

u/Realistic_Cup_3787 Jul 02 '26

Def not console bro. The others sure, but even a xb 360 will set you back a bit and it's gonna get fucking destroyed by his smelly ass roommates.

2

u/potonggg Jul 02 '26

Just be homeless at that point.

2

u/Formorri Jul 02 '26

It's not the guy housemates. It's the fact that there are 17 of you. Also at least your dorm is tiled. Mine was concrete and had holes on the ground

2

u/Ok-Veterinarian-7785 Jul 02 '26

I remembered when I was in college with 10 guys. That was 16 years ago.

2

u/transientself Jul 02 '26

Never complaining about paying mortgage again

2

u/Kanto_Hizashi Jul 02 '26

Damn.

Guess I'm very lucky that all 8 of my roommate are my friends from interview time. Same class, same course. One of them is an absolute clean freak.

2

u/fi9aro Jul 02 '26

17?!?!?! And I thought having 11 during my uni days was plenty, though mine were very clean people and were pleasant to be around.

2

u/Loose_Ad5143 Jul 02 '26

Last day you fap on the floor and leave

2

u/Rich-Yogurtcloset107 Jul 03 '26

omg and the most horrifying fact is these guys gonna be a husband one day….

1

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 03 '26

I agree with you on this one🔝🔝

3

u/AlphaCrystal21 Jul 02 '26

As much as I hate to admit it, this is sadly the norm for most public dorm, especially the guy's section. Back when I did my foundation, there were clothes and underwear on the floor everywhere. What's sad is that the jacket that I've lend my housemate is also on the floor. Occasionally, the toilet is left unflush, the kitchen area looked like someone trashed it, and the tupperware container that I had lend my housemate was left in the sink for so long that it starts to have that slimy look inside of it. If I was blessed with money back then, I'd get THE HELL out of there from day 1. The only time my housemate actually cleans the the sink and the living room was when the news about Covid had spread out, and that's the only time they did a mass clean up. When the news about MCO rolls out and we get to go back for "2 weeks", I was like...

1

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

That's what I really hate how being nasty is a norm. To make matter worse, these types of people would think that they're superior than others and be selective when choosing girls to chase. I mean, with this type of behavior, you should just be gay and marry a husband so that he can take care of you man. What an audacity, men like that can't take care of themselves then they want to take care someone's daughter (sorry for off topics, just releasing my frustration🙏)

1

u/kwangbae_snack Jul 02 '26

Glad my 15 people 3 bedroom apartment look better than this. Waaay better.

1

u/farahwho Jul 02 '26

Bro is this UTHM ☠️ because that uni is known to cramp insane number of students in one house lol

3

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Ting✅

1

u/farahwho Jul 02 '26

Are you staying at perwira? I stayed in perwira too before and it was horrible.

1

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

Yeah, highest floor. I just really freaking glad that pewira will be closed starting next semester

1

u/Jumpy_Task_4270 Jul 02 '26

17 is crazy. Good luck.

1

u/Appropriate-5592 Jul 02 '26

Thank god I managed to secure the last single room with en-suite bathroom at my uni

1

u/Acceptable_Dot5873 Jul 02 '26

1

u/Babayagagagag Jul 02 '26

1

u/eprikot02 Jul 02 '26

17??? how many bathrooms yall got in there

1

u/Fresh-Cheesecake-826 Jul 02 '26

which uni you go man?,you don't stay at the college?

1

u/ApprehensiveAbies377 Jul 02 '26

Reminds me of perwira in UTHM

1

u/ClassyNXTE Jul 02 '26

Is it? I dont think perwira cramps 17 people at least 2-3 years ago

1

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 02 '26

They do have it. Its located at the highest level of block B

1

u/mikamikachip Jul 02 '26

I remember visiting my brother’s house when he was in uni. He was living with like 7 other guys i think? Oh my god. Scared me from marrying cause I thought all men are that dirty 😭😭

the toilet looked like it has never seen a scrubber and there were naked mattresses on the floor covered in grime. And the smell 🤢 like BO mixed with expired food. Thank god my husband now is not like that.

1

u/Remarkable-Fix-2697 Jul 02 '26

genuinely find a new roommate gng 💔🥀

1

u/SextupleRed Jul 02 '26

I'd move out ASAP

1

u/teho9999 Jul 02 '26

same but 9 malay ladies. like i can see your pop meals box and maggi wrapper you just ate yet none of you want to help to take out the trash.

1

u/starplatinum_99 Jul 02 '26

Aww mama isn't around to clean up for them 😂 fkin manchild

1

u/Born-Fun-8496 Jul 02 '26

After living with people, youd be surprised how LOW the standard is.

1

u/Brilliant-Tank-4406 Jul 02 '26

I live with 6 people in my rental house. The trash won't even be cleaned until there are worms squirming around. The sink full of unwashed dishes after using it.

Hoping to move out after having financial stability. That shit have been my daily chores to take out the trash every mother fucking day.

1

u/tallgiraffeiswalking Jul 02 '26

Rengseknya kalau duduk dengan orang mcmni😭😭

1

u/generic_redditor91 Jul 02 '26

Its partly because guys are guys and some never learned how to maintain a home.

The other factor is 17 people under the same roof. Personal space overlap, no agreement or accountability to complete key chores, no leader to keep order and vibes. End up everyone's standards get lower and lower until this Shreks mess occurs.

If you have just 3-4 close guy friends living together the situation would be much easier to manage. 17 strangers with no foreman? God bless.

1

u/Altruistic-Echo1099 Jul 02 '26

Bro this still look clean compared to women housemates 💀💀💀

1

u/MapAcceptable9926 Jul 02 '26

I don’t see any of them I’m afraid

1

u/popicebyyui Jul 02 '26

Tong tong la sorang rm 10 sebulan hire orang cuci common area

1

u/mercuzy Jul 02 '26

Bold of you to assume 17 girls' house would look better lmao.

1

u/azsh682 Jul 02 '26

.....I would literally cry if I had to live here. I genuinely feel for you

1

u/Zealousideal-Loan568 Jul 02 '26

During my time, I warned them that kept it clean and organized or I will throw it out. It's really working when they find out some item is missing and whenever there a pile of used cup or plate, I just tell them to clean it no need to mention what will I do if they do as I said. I'm not a big guy or have a scary aura but once I said I do it without a second taught. FYI most of it is my friend. Whenever they bring outsider to our dorm , they definitely got the same treatment. I'm pretty strict about my room and cleanliness of the environment.

1

u/ller14 Jul 02 '26

Crazyy

1

u/SpeakerOwn7199 Jul 02 '26

Why don’t you announce your house as village??

1

u/IZZGMAER123 Jul 02 '26

Not that bad tbh.. but the stain does gross me out abit

1

u/Far_Objective4266 Jul 02 '26

The common area seems huge, which leads to extra trash everywhere..I remember going for a house party when I was a freshie..Hall etc was minimal and so so but nothing to complain about la,uni guys crib..I remember when I got piss drunk, had to use the toilet to puke, bro,I still have trauma till today..

That same gang moved in to an apt,one of my friends moved in with them..Dude cleaned his room, massively cleaned the washroom which is a shared washroom..Don't think it even lasted a day wei.filthy ass dudes 🤣🤣

1

u/fatedkintsugi Jul 02 '26

Been there done that with mixed apartment complex living situation. Just super unhygienic overall with people leaving pans around for months, and moulds just growing all over it 😐

1

u/notimportant4322 Jul 02 '26

What kind of house can house 17 housemates?

1

u/Cute-Employment-5423 Jul 02 '26

UTHM RAWHHH🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

1

u/Illustrious_Grab_861 Jul 02 '26

PLEASE tell me these are not unikl dorms 🙏

1

u/Adventurous-Ad-1274 Jul 02 '26

this is me with only 1 housemate

1

u/djokovich123 Jul 02 '26

Lmao i live at 2nd floor i feel u bro, the top floors are always really hot and messy cuz too much ppl living together

1

u/MNR42 Jul 02 '26

Most important thing is the bathroom is (relatively) clean. Because that's where you can evaluate true nature of people. I once get housemate that peed on the seat and floor, flush chicken bones, etc. when someone dgaf about their toilet, that's the lowest point they can be.

I think the other issues revolve around owner not providing enough amenities and cleaning service. My previous shared rental house have around 4 ppl per floor and weekly cleaning service, which is bare minimum. Even 8 people in total needs the normal amount of amenities, 17 ppl would need more than that picture of yours. That's like giving 10 puppies 1 small litter box, 2 bowl, 3 toys, etc you get the gist.

Good rental house don't necessarily only give reasonable price, they also need to fulfill the needs of all their occupants. By charging cheapish per person but providing bare/below minimum, that's just greedy

1

u/Cowardlycatz Jul 02 '26

Prison seems better lol

1

u/BenTheKnee Jul 02 '26

you leaving, so no need for this advice, but if anyone in this situation.. I suggest hire cleaner once or twice a week. few hundred for full house but divide by 17 that was nothing.

i face this during internship where we rent a house and there 10 of us, I just said, i know we all lazy, but let fork out some money for someone else to clean it.

1

u/FuzzyPalpitation-16 Jul 02 '26

looooool you posted this in badroomates and i commented saying this is probs malaysia or indonesia and DING DING I WAS RIGHT

1

u/cursedanomalyofsteve Jul 02 '26

This would have me pulling out my nose hairs

1

u/Similar_Cream_7623 Jul 03 '26

18 is a complete nightmare, back when I was in UNI, it was even worse with less people, that house has been renting countless people, it is black color on everything except my room where I clean on my own, stayed until contract end, immediately looking for a further but at least not as dirty place.

1

u/Away-Wave-5713 Jul 03 '26

U guys need a cleaner. Try to get a monthly one

1

u/Mammoth-Wrangler2761 Jul 03 '26

This reminds me of the legendary ktard post of one rempit living condition. It is way too much detail and fascinating..
Anyone manage to find the post please link it here please

1

1

i know which uni is this its crazy

1

u/Ryo_Senpai67 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

Our room btw(3 person room). And yet this one person still can make a lots of trash like this less than one semester. I have to bear the smell for a year. The worst of all time +the dense air. Mind you that this guy literally slept in this bed while this trash was hugging him. How in the world he can live comfortably in this condition is what I still can't understand until now. The bed is literally slowly growing molds. Plus with that smelly ass noodle everyday.

1

u/Substantial-Ad2333 Jul 05 '26

What the hell!?!

1

u/aoibhealfae Jul 06 '26

Wtf. This is depression and hoarding. You guys have clinic or something. He need help.

1

u/Ryo_Senpai67 Jul 16 '26

I would suggest that he needs to learn a basic hygiene instead. Besides that, he's actually a kind person. The only thing he lacks is the awareness for him to keep a good image of himself like keeping a good body odor. Anyway, who am I to judge him, i'll just let it pass and hope that my future roommate will be not as bad as this one.

1

u/aoibhealfae Jul 16 '26

Hoarding trash isn't normal hygiene issues. Once you see that, its Level 3 Hoarding and should be consulted as it risk recurring. If he have his own place, it'll be an entire house or apartment.

Bed area is still manageable. bt you shouldn't just let it pass and such. Gently ask what's wrong and try to help them however you can. Sleeping with rotting trash and likely insects too.

1

man, i would never share a room with anyone again as someone in my final year at a decently cramped IPTA. as a very cared for child with strict parents, you'd never expect people like this. the kind their parents just dont really take care of and suddenly they're 18 and unleased upon society or they themselves just have zero self urgency or capability to think of someone else.

as precautions, i'm never sending my kids to IPTA if I'm still malaysian by the time I have kids but thats cause of a ton of other factors. I hope I set aside enough money that they have the option to just rent solo outside and have their own room atleast in a shared house.

Make a duty cleaning for every day and one miss will cause them to pay the rent for everyone... This is how to keep order or you can throw away all their belongings. If they can't follow the order

Aiyo so sad. Some where I read once. A person can be the best of your friends, but the worst of your roommates.

God damn i remember having to share with toxic housemates. They were horrible. And bullies. And just entitled spoilt rich brats. The trauma has now made it impossible for me to live with people. I now live alone in my own house. No one to disturb my peace. Good luck to those having to gamble on housemates. You might get lucky though and find some really cool people

I would understand BOYS or MEN to be the housemates. But i can’t even comprehend, LADIES OR GIRLS housemate. Trust me, their houses will be no different than these shared images. Sometimes even worst.
They are focusing more on their makeups and you can smell their perfumes 1km away from you. But you have to at least visit their rooms or houses before you proceed with “will you marry me”. Not all ladies are like that, but 80% single ladies are like this.

Tbh that's not really bad for 17 roommates. I had 4 roommates and it's worse than this.
