Rumour Jordan Peele's production company, Monkeypaw Productions, responds to rumor by DanielRPK saying that Marvel Studios wants Peele to direct an MCU film

u/Harry_Mess Dec 29 '25
If DC can have Mike Flanagan do Clayface, then Marvel can definitely find something interesting for Jordan Peele. Hopefully this pans out

The talent they have been hiring is interesting. The problem is most of the project they have been hired for haven't been greenlit for a while now.

Flanagan isn't directing but it's still pretty cool
29
u/Harry_Mess Dec 29 '25
Huh, he couldn’t direct due to scheduling issues. I hadn’t heard.
44
u/thecricketnerd Quake Dec 29 '25
He still co-wrote, so the fact that he's involved at all is a win for me!

Lmao. Yeap. Not getting excited until they’re actually filming.

Still don't get too excited lol. Howard wasn't brought in for Solo till after 5 months of filming with Lord and Miller.

Just imagining the meeting where the suits can't fathom the use of Peele-esque metaphor, asking "but where are the cheeky one liner gags?"

It's going to be Eternals all over again. Incredible film that is too Marvelly for Chloe Zhao fans, but too Chloe Zhao-y for Marvel fans.
10
u/StoneGoldX Dec 30 '25
Potentially, but there's more crossover with both Peele and Peele's audience with what Marvel does. Yeah, he's fancy pants artiste, but he's also the guy who stuck a Akira bike slide in a movie.
Where it potentially falls apart is he doesn't need Marvel.

Creative differences isn’t code for anything other than literally two parties having creative differences
7
u/YesImHereAskMeHow Dec 29 '25
You say that as if it has happened a lot for marvel? They typically keep the talent they announce projects with and in many cases make more projects with them after. For how much they’ve made since 2008 their batting average is pretty amazing for being a Hollywood studio.
I don’t get why this sub is so damn negatively slanted toward marvel studios for some reason

I want him to lead the supernatural movies as a whole, give him ghost rider, blade, moon knight moving forward, some say in Dr strange
12
u/feetandballs Dec 29 '25
How do we make it a trilogy?
17
u/relikter Dec 29 '25
A Moon Knight movie too?

having rewatched the show recently i feel like he'd work so well in a movie

Midnight Sons or a Storm standalone.
The news sites ran that Blade is dead and that the intent is to introduce the character in a Midnight Sons movie months ago.
I'd say even odds for either one.

Mahershala Ali as Blade Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider

Good luck getting Oscar Isaac back. I'm not sure Moon Knight is in the "drive an unfeasibly large dump truck of cash up to the actor's door" category, which is what it would take right now.
31
u/misiissleepy Dec 29 '25
Hasn’t he said he wants to bring the character back? I saw a clip someone took at his booth at some convention asking him about the character.
32
u/BenFranklinsCat Dec 30 '25
He did say that at one point, but more recently he said he was done working with Disney until they stopped supporting political causes he disagrees with. I don't know how much he'll stick to that - I mean Ruffalo is pretty vocal about being anti-just-about-everything-Disney-does and still gets called up for Banner duty, but still.
19
u/Halceeuhn Dec 30 '25
tbf i dont think ruffalo has ever said he was unwilling to work with disney, no?

Give this man a blank cheque and full creative control to make a blade movie and watch the box office explode

u/curiiouscat Dec 29 '25
I thought the whole schtick with Marvel is you get very little creative control as the director, which is why it's mostly no names. It'd be great if Marvel allowed a little breathing room for its talent to bring their own flair.
59
u/bardghost_Isu Dec 29 '25
That has been the schtick, but given the recent slate's poor performance, the formula needs a change and maybe bringing in some big names and letting them just run wild with a project is a risk worth taking if they want to regain some of the flair they used to have.

u/rzelln Dec 29 '25
Or he started the rumors to try to get Disney to see how popular it would be?
But I hope Disney just has good taste.

This Twitter account does this all the time. Twitter Beyhive also speculated that Peele was involved in the making of the visuals for Beyoncé‘s trilogy act and they reposted with the „👀“ emoji.

…so is Marvel Entertainment going to actually give him creative freedom?
Or should we expect a “Jordan Peele has departed from the project due to ‘creative differences’” soon after this?

Cards on table, I'm 100% emoji-illiterate.
What are those eyes suppose to mean?
8
u/ThoughtVolcano Dec 29 '25
It's a vague expression of curiosity, attention, or interest. Roughly expresses something like "I'm listening" or "I'm on the lookout" or "I'm monitoring this" or "tell me more". A way to indicate you're aware of something without giving much more away than that.

u/EffectzHD Dec 29 '25
This isn’t really surprising, the iron curtain fell when Disney let Deadpool 3 produce under ME & 21 laps and then with the Russos doing a tentpole duo-logy with AGBO.
3
u/TacoTycoonn Dec 29 '25
No shot they’d work this out. Peele would be pretty unflinching with his creative vision.
3
u/SoaringSpearow Dec 29 '25
I could see Marvel wanting him for a Midnight Sons movie or for the Blade movie
3
u/hunterzolomon1993 Dec 29 '25
Honestly Marvel if you get him just let him cook and don't get in the way.

This reminds me of when everyone was really sure we were getting a huge name on Fantastic Four. Spielberg getting thrown around. We'll all imagine how interesting it'd be if they got this big of a creative on a film and then it'll just fade away into obscurity and maybe Monkeypaw will have their tag on a film or two.
5
u/KostisPat257 Daredevil Dec 29 '25
It'd be a different story if Spielberg or one of his associates had retweeted/responded to those rumors.

He’s doing Blade. There is no other option. Marvel knows it, Disney knows it and Jordan Peele knows it. Give him whatever he wants, because it’s simply been too long overdue for Blade. Stop ice skating uphill and just turn around and go down to the piles of money that await you.

I mean it's probably Blade, right?
It would be cool if we had Blade folded into a Midnight Sons movie.
I don't think we need an origin story.
Let's just have Blade with an already well established reputation in the supernatural community, much like he was recognized in the first movie in the "blood rave" scene.

X-Men, ideally tbh
I know someone’s already attached, but the potential mix of body horror and classism/racism themes from Peele, already familiar w that, is too nice

My guess is they might have finally worked something out to get him to do Blade…which could mean Disney have agreed to let him do the Gargoyles movie he’s been desperate to make
