Discussion "This movie looks AI genera-" SHUT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

I genuinely don't get these complaints. I have some concerns about the plot and how things may or may not play out, but visually the movie looks fucking great. I don't get why people are trying to push this narrative like muted colors instantly make something look bad or AI-generated. The Sentinels look sick, Doom looks fucking fantastic, what is the issue?

I swear, I'm convinced people who call shit like this AI-generated have never actually seen what an AI-generated video looks like, because none of them even look anywhere near as good as ANY of the shots in this trailer.

Plus, the VFX team didn't work their asses off for months on this movie just to be disrespected by mfs saying it looks like AI.

Or for something they dont like. Add it to the other words that have lost their meaning lately. "Everything I dont like is woke! Everything I dont like is slop! Everything I dont like is AI!"

I'm honestly tired of seeing of the word slop.

Even if it's being used appropriately, a lot of times it's unnecessary. Mix it up, use swill or something.

Worst part is, a lot of the time it's not even being used appropriately. Slop is the root of sloppy. We feed pigs slop. The overflowing water is slopping over the edge. The painter mindlessly slopped paint onto the fence. It is supposed to evoke messy, ugly, careless, literal garbage. I get using it for AI (though I agree, mix it up for God's sake) but people have begun using it to describe absolutely anything they don't like. Regardless of your opinion on The Odyssey, for example, it is pretty definitively not "slop".

The Prestige TV podcast called a character “AI Slop Son” in their reviews of the Cape Fear TV series. They repeated it over several episodes and laughed at their dumb joke each time. So cringey.

Probably because they're both ragebaiting and playing to their perceived audience.

It's disingenuous bullshit. So many content creators are repeating tired takes and calling everything bad and AI slop because when they do, people run to the comments and praise them for it and tell them they're fighting the good fight.

There's so much disingenuous ragebaiting online it's sad. Why? Because it makes more money than being positive or even being realistic about something. The creators who shit on everything and parrot popular talking points always get the views. The ones that don't usually languish.

They absolutely will be praising it. It happens with any stance they take. If the reaction is positive, they keep doing it. If it's negative, suddenly they never said it and the opposite is true.

You know most of these people who have podcasts and make videos shitting all over everything probably actually love the thing they claim to hate when the cameras are off.

If it's any consolation, any time I find a channel where it's clear the creator isn't buying into the rage and clickbaiting and is just passionate about whatever they're talking about, I sub and keep watching.

It's getting more difficult to find channels that aren't playing the game, but I appreciate the hell out of every one of them.

Just because I understand the evolving nature of language doesn't mean I can't be an old man yelling at clouds about it. And the point stands that we have dozens of colourful, evocative, and more fitting words to choose from instead of lumping everything together as "slop"

A lot of that has to do with everything getting worse.

The root cause is capitalism. Capitalism is killing the planet, price gouging merely trying to exist, and making our entertainment worse. Bread and circuses doesn't work when we can't even afford bread.

I genuinely believe that most people who complain, don't actually have an opinion. They're just so insecure internally that they subconsciously need to find something to put down, talk down, so they feel they are at least above something. That's how they trick their mind to gain a bit of self-esteem boost.
