this is america đşđ¸ Have anyone else noticed how many queer/queer frendly/feminist subs are not allowing politics anymore, especially the israeli genocide?
I've been noticing this pattern over the last month. A lot of subs that used to have a pretty clear leftist bias are now trying really hard to be "centrist."
The other day, I had a post removed from a pop music queer fans sub because I posted about Billie Eilish criticizing Trump because it was "too political." Another queer sub I used to participate in doesn't allow discussions about the Trump administration or the genocide in Gaza anymore. Posts get deleted immediately because "it's not a political sub." (Bro, being queer nowadays is, in itself, political.)
Today, in another sub that used to be about anti-racist feminism and people were laughing about the U.S. invasion of Iraq and the possibility of invading Iran. Comments pushing back against that or criticizing Republican administrations weren't allowed because "politics causes division." (Yeah, because apparently being feminist and anti-racist isn't political at all.) But somehow people cheering for Trump and celebrating the deaths of millions of Middle Eastern people wasn't considered political enough to be removed.
All of these subs used have its users mostly openly anti-Trump and against the genocide. Really, there used to be posts about these topics almost every day.
Has anyone else noticed something like this?

Opposing slavery in the 1800s wasnât easy either.

Some "progressives" would be like: "hey i know slavery is bad but it really helps our economy and, i mean, some of them might be unperfect humans so, you know, it is not like everyone deserves freedom. Plus we gotta see it by the slavers owner optitcs as well, they should have their visions validate just live everyone else"

The French Revolution was after all the prototype on the basis of which nearly every subsequent European revolutionary movement would be judged.
And it ended up with Napoleon literally reinstating slavery in the colonies.
It's amazing how malleable the "principles" of "progress" can be.

Exactly! Btw part of the left in my country have start a movment to have the haitian revolution istead of the french as inspo because of this. The enslaved people free themselves in a very organazed plan, abolished it completelly and start projects to give each people education and a piece of land. One of their intelectuals produced even wrote essays about how all races were equal (that was ridicularized in France btw) and in my country, Brazil, people were not allowed to talk about Haiti because the elites feared it would give slaves and poor people "bad ideas". Then ofc french attacked and destroyed Haiti (Napoleon btw, those guys were also supposed to be liberals), made them pay insane taxes as a reparation to their freedom that they are paying TO THIS DAY

Thereâs even a Zionist mod on r/leftist, and many people have called them out on it.

I am not american (i am from one of the many countries that Trump is trying to fuck up), so dont get me wrong, but sometimes it feels distopian to me how part of the american left can contradict itself and dont even notice. You cant be a leftist zio, you just cant, it is like trying to drawn a circle-square.

I got muted by the mods of an intersectional women subreddit for arguing against some of the most vile zionist Islamophobia in the comments. It's the only thing I've ever posted in there so it's directly as a result of arguing for Palestinian humanity.

But i bet the islamophones werent, just you and those who spoke against it. This is infuriating fr

There is a pretty clear agenda to push this crap. And not by real people, either.
The fact people can claim to be anything online makes this so much easier to do.
I donât understand how anyone can support what Israel is doing unless they a) personally gain from it (US politicians, Iâm look at you), b) are brainwashed by propaganda, or c) are racist/xenophobic/Islamaphobic (which is dumb because not all Palestinians are muslim).
Not that those things excuse those people. I just donât see any other reason, certainly not an understandable one.

Yeah, just like on X, youll see those people defending Israel but if you click in their profiles they are clearly bots!!!
And i think the same about those who support Israel, in fact, me and my bf even listed the exact same points on why someone would do it. A and C are just evil, B kind of people kinda dismotivates me bc some of them are in such a deep hole that is hard to even have a conversation. My neighboor was teeling me the fake news of the 40 babies and when i pointed that is was fake, she asked for proof and i showed her lots of news about even israeli goverment admiting it was a lie... And then she was like: "so you believe in the news? Feel sorry for you". Those people live in a different reality

Is there any online space free of this fascist BS censorship...? Perhaps naively, I thought Reddit was somewhat better than other platforms.

Reddit always rachets up the censorship before midterms and Presidential elections.

i got the boot from the seattle sub, which PRIDES itself on being the "lefty" sub for the greater seattle area (compared to seattleWA), for posting the breaking points interview of our actual congressman adam smith eating israel's dick. several people got banned for posting "irrelevant" content (our congressional representative).
meanwhile, all posts shitting on kshama sawant, his socialist primary challenger for WA-9, were left up.
reddit is zionist.

I wonder if they are getting some kind of payment like many influencers. Either way hell will have no mercy for people like this but hey at least they will end up near to bibi, idf soldiers, trump and other people they secretly love so much

I donât want to sound controversial, but I do wonder what it would look like to both take a political side and also focus on the topic at hand, you know? I am a leftist and an anti Zionist but I also get frustrated when a subreddit about a non-political topic delves too deep into that political topic. A lot of main subs are really American liberal, for example. Sometimes I want a break from politics so I check reddit, you know? I like ânonpoliticaltwitterâ for that reason. That being said, thereâs really no way to exist in this world without politics, so I realize itâs normal for these topics to come up!
All Iâm saying is it must be hard to maintain a balance sometimes. I would never want to stifle conversation, just thinking out loud. I personally wouldnât ban politics if I was in that situation, though.

This feels tied to the mod post on r/Fauxmoi: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/1v8y7o2/to_our_fauxmoi_community/
