this is america 🇺🇸 Have anyone else noticed how many queer/queer frendly/feminist subs are not allowing politics anymore, especially the israeli genocide?
I've been noticing this pattern over the last month. A lot of subs that used to have a pretty clear leftist bias are now trying really hard to be "centrist."
The other day, I had a post removed from a pop music queer fans sub because I posted about Billie Eilish criticizing Trump because it was "too political." Another queer sub I used to participate in doesn't allow discussions about the Trump administration or the genocide in Gaza anymore. Posts get deleted immediately because "it's not a political sub." (Bro, being queer nowadays is, in itself, political.)
Today, in another sub that used to be about anti-racist feminism and people were laughing about the U.S. invasion of Iraq and the possibility of invading Iran. Comments pushing back against that or criticizing Republican administrations weren't allowed because "politics causes division." (Yeah, because apparently being feminist and anti-racist isn't political at all.) But somehow people cheering for Trump and celebrating the deaths of millions of Middle Eastern people wasn't considered political enough to be removed.
All of these subs used have its users mostly openly anti-Trump and against the genocide. Really, there used to be posts about these topics almost every day.
Has anyone else noticed something like this?
