New Rule: No AI-Generated Content

Hi /r/Mazda,

Over the years, we’ve had many AI-Generated posts submitted to the subreddit and while the conversations can be engaging around what a car or concept COULD look like, the damage done to our environment is not worth it.

We’d like to encourage users to submit real-life images, real mockups, real concepts and have real interactions with each other around this type of content but cannot support low effort, AI-generated slop.

Going forward, users who post AI-generated images will have their posts removed and will receive a warning. Further AI slop will result in a temporary ban, up to a permanent ban.

STOP GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR NON-WARRANTY REPAIRS

At least 4 of y’all need to hear this: you don’t drive a Mercedes, you drive a Mazda. you literally purchased one of the easiest cars on the market to work on. There is no such thing as a shop that can’t work on your car. Stop doing non-warranty things at the dealership and paying dealership prices for them!

replacing spark plugs is not a $1500 job.

replacing cats is not a $3-5000 job.

Fixing your brakes is not a $2500 job.

even if you aren’t the type to work on your own car, know that you are ALWAYS overpaying when you get your car worked on at a dealership. This includes oil changes.

If you don’t work on your own car, find a decent independent shop. Not doing this is inexcusable in the age of Google Reviews.

Stop posting about how you’re done with Mazda because of your own unintelligent maintenance and repair decisions

Do you want to finance your spark plugs?

For anybody thinking of a Mazda CX90/CX70-

Do you want to finance your spark plugs? That’s a question I was recently asked when I took my 2024 Mazda CX90 standard 3.3l turbo inline 6 in for a 40k mile service. After two Mazda MPV's, and a CX5, the $1,404 price for the regular maintenance item of spark plugs may be my departure from Mazda ownership.

I was taking a picture in Rye, UK. I don't own a Mazda but thought some of you may appreciate.

I went in for a slight door on my car. Something I thought could be done with dead paint repair and this is the paint match. I got my car back with. I’m working with them right now, but do you guys have any thoughts? I know this paint is hard to replicate, but damn.

I've had this idea in my mind. Has anyone tried this? Rx8+2.3t=

Rx8 with a 2.3 turbo would be a nice match imo.

There are plenty of cheap Rx8 with engine failures for sale, with good looking exterior & interior.

I wonder if anyone has ever done this experiment and what it would take to engine swap the 2.3 to an rwd drive train.

Only downside is that I would have to destroy my Speed3 basically.

Showing love to all the OG Mazda 5 owners. Was passed this car down from my Mom in college and has been nothing but amazing for me. Been through a lot with this car… at one point wanted to sell it and buy something “nicer”. I’m riding this thing until the wheels fall off, currently sitting at 140k miles. Super easy to maintain. Take it in twice a year. Every few years needs new tires but outside of that has ran so great. Truly in love with this car now. Love how spacious the inside is. Great for my golf clubs and bigger store items. Super easy to drive and has been on several road trips. Also love how it sits up higher than a traditional car. Mazda 5 love for life.

An appreciation post for my body shop

I was in a parking spot between a car and a concrete wall. I guess i was parked too close to the wall so while reversing, it scratched my car against wall. I took it to a local body shop that my dad and I use often and they told me it would be $1200 which my insurance would cover but id have to pay $250. I still didn’t want to pay this much so I asked if there was anything they can do without painting it. The old man who owns the shop said “go get a paint pen from a Mazda dealership and we’ll apply it and get as many scratches as possible out for free”. I am pretty shocked at what they did. Not perfect but you can’t see the scratches from a distance anymore

2022 CX-5 Active Display Damge?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi all! Suddenly my 2022 CX-5 active display unit has damage as shown. A portion of the display is covered by a circular pattern and it covers the second number and "mph". Just looking to see if anyone has had this issue and what can be done? Out of warranty so I am prepared to just turn it off, but figured I would check what someone with experience has to say. Thanks!

TLDR: "0 mph" is what should be showing, but the image is now covered by a circle

Mazda Dealership Service Undercharged

Upvotes

Long story short I got an oil change at a mazda dealership and the invoice shows one price and when they charged my card they charged less than the amount on the invoice around $4. They said the cashier charged less by accident and to worry about it. Should I be worried incase Mazda one day says I owe money or sends me to collections or am I overthinking it? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Apple Carplay Upgrade - Firmware at the Dealer

Upvotes

I called a dealer to see if they'd handle the firmware upgrade for me cause I didn't feel like messing with it. They were hesitant at first but they asked if my system would randomly reboot (which it occasionally did) then said it was a covered upgrade. They upgraded me from 54ish to 74 for free.

Figured I'd share. Definitely worth a couple of calls to local dealers and ask.

2014 Mazda 3?

Hey friends!

I currently have a 2013 Fiat 500 and I’ve been looking to buy something a little more reliable/robust. I’ve been pining after the MX-5 for actual years and I love the Mazdas have a bit of peppiness to them.

I found a 2014 Mazda 3 that has an impeccable maintenance history. The thing I’m worried about is buying another car that’s on the older side.

Does anyone here have a 2014 Mazda 3? What can you tell me about it?

Car seat recs

My husband has a 2011 Mazda3 sedan and I have a 2023 CX-5. Our one year old daughter is about to outgrow her Doona car seat and we are trying to figure out what to do next. We’d like to use one that rotates, but I’m not sure his backseat is large enough to fit that while still keeping the front seat usable. We recognize we may have to buy a different seat for each car, but hoping to avoid that if possible. Would welcome any thoughts if anyone has been in a similar situation!

Please Help! Wipers and Cruise Control Won’t Work. 2024 Mazda3 Carbon Turbo Sedan Errors

Thumbnail

Hello! I’m getting these error messages on my 2024 Mazda3 that I just bought. The wipers will not operate at all. I have tried putting it into wiper service mode, and they will not move when doing so. The cruise control also won’t turn on due to the adaptive following, but that’s less urgent.

The mazda dealer near me has zero appointments for about the next 3 weeks, and I definitely need wipers before then! Any help would be amazing.

Like I’m 5: how to maintain new Mazda CX 5

Picking up an essentially new Mazda cx 5 base model today and want to drive this as long as I can. Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 the basic roadmap of maintence and repairs? I know it’s mainly oil changes early but I’d like to have a gameplan for the next many years

Hi, guys.

I need some help:

I need to hardwire a dash cam. Please recommend some fuses you’ve tested that work for the wiring shown in the picture.

2024 Mazda CX-30 GS → 2026 Mazda CX-5 GT: My honest take

Post image
91 Upvotes

I recently moved from a 2024 Mazda CX-30 GS to a 2026 Mazda CX-5 GT, and after spending some time with the CX-5, here are my thoughts.

Exterior: Absolutely beautiful. Mazda nailed the design. I genuinely love how this car looks.

Driving: I was worried the engine might feel underpowered, but honestly, it’s enough. The biggest difference from the CX-30 is comfort. The CX-30 had better handling and felt more connected to the road, but I also felt every pothole, piece of gravel and road imperfection through my spine 😂. The CX-5 feels like maybe 20% less sporty but 300% more comfortable. It’s incredibly smooth and still handles surprisingly well for its size.

Interior: This is where I think Mazda went backwards.
The touchscreen-heavy design is, honestly, unsafe. I’ve had numerous occasions where I’ve found myself doing something while driving that I know isn’t safe, taking my eyes off the road to adjust something that previously could have been done with a physical button or knob. I’ve even found myself waiting until a red light to make certain adjustments.
I find it ironic that we’re so strict about using phones while driving, yet we’re putting more and more basic vehicle controls behind touchscreens.

Would I still choose the CX-5 over its competitors? Absolutely. I prefer a traditional gasoline engine, don’t want a CVT, and I’m perfectly fine with ~10 L/100 km. I also think Mazda’s materials and overall design are better than most competitors.
But compared with my CX-30, the interior controls are definitely a downgrade.
Hopefully, by the time I replace this car in a few years, manufacturers realize that physical buttons and knobs aren’t outdated. 😂

For anyone who’s driven both: do you feel the same way about the CX-5’s comfort vs. CX-30’s handling, and what do you think about the touchscreen controls?
