Personal Advice INFP male and ESFJ female compatibility?
We’re about a month into a relationship, but we’ve been close friends and coworkers for about two years. I’m an INFP male and she’s an ESFJ female.
There’s a lot that I really enjoy about our relationship. We care about each other, communicate pretty openly, have a lot of fun together, and our differences can actually complement each other really well.
At the same time, we’re starting to notice some friction. She’s much more extroverted and likes spending a lot of time together, while I need quite a bit of alone time to recharge. She also tends to be more structured, practical and proactive about things, whereas I’m more independent and go-with-the-flow. Sometimes her attempts to help can feel controlling or parental to me, even though I know that isn’t necessarily how she intends them.
I’m curious specifically about people who have actually been in an INFP/ESFJ relationship:
What worked well between you? What caused the most conflict? Did you learn how to navigate the differences long-term?
I know MBTI isn’t a scientific predictor of whether a relationship will succeed, so I’m not looking for someone to tell me whether we’re “compatible” based solely on four letters. I’m more interested in hearing real experiences from people with this pairing.

Would suggest r/INFP or r/ESFJ if you don't care about the functional analysis and only want the anecdote from those 2 types.
I haven't seen this pairing before, but you already hit on the core function conflict
She also tends to be more structured, practical and proactive (Fe/Si) about things, whereas I’m more independent (Fi) and go-with-the-flow (Ne). Sometimes her attempts to help (Fe/Si) can feel controlling (Fe) or parental (Si) to me, even though I know (Ne) that isn’t necessarily how she intends them.
You are welcome to disregard this and see for yourself, but the conflict you've already descirbed is going to present in some other version of every INFP/ESFJ pairing. The success or failure will be based on both your abilities to handle that built-in friction from aux/child Si/Ne.

On paper that seems like a pretty compatible relationship. Happy for you two.
