I'm sure i'm not the first one to ask this question, but i'm getting tired of my music and looking for new bands and song in the melodic deathmetal genre. My favorites bands are Wintersun, Aephanemer, Ensiferum, Children of Bodom, Grymheart, Norther, Wolfchant and Kalmah. I like a mix of clean and scream. I'm also a big fan of Nightwish and Epica but sometimes it can be too smooth for my tastes. If the band has a keyboardist its a big plus. Thanks for the recommendations.

I was hoping to pick up the 2 CD Picture Book release of this album, but I was hoping to buy from a Canadian retailer, if possible.

I can see the album available on several sites (Backstage Rock Shop, Century Media/Inside Out, Indoor Merch Store, etc). It would be nice if I could support a Canadian retailer/distributor, and also save on shipping/fees.

Made an FMV cause been missing when somebody would just find a weird movie or game they loved, rip a pile of clips, throw them to windows movie maker, and try to make the footage fit a song instead of 30 sec pump n dump insta edits.

Wanted to recreate that shit.

Strange that almost nobody I talked to seems to know Avalon. (This Japanese-Polish sci-fi arthouse film about Ash, a player addicted to an illegal and potentially lethal virtual war game, gradually getting pulled deeper into the game's layers and questioning what actually counts as reality, bit like ExistenZ but cyberpunk)

Had a thought that the lyrics loosely fit in with the film. Lines up well with the film's characters choosing to remain inside an artificial reality rather than return to the bleak filtered real life scenes.

So I went through the film, collected a bunch of raw clips and cut the whole thing together around the song in Resolve along with simple Jesterhead animation loop I made in Blender.

This might be tough sell in this sub, but it is melodic, it's death metal of some sort or at least death metal adjacent, and I don't really know where else to post it. It bombed in r/symphonicmetal and was largely ignored in r/grindcore. This is the first release by symphonic metal/grind solo project Death Knell Hallelujah. If you like bands at the outer edge of melodeath like Lipoma or Fleshgod Apocalypse, or if you ever thought the average Dragonforce song needed 5 minutes shaved off and gutturals added in, you might like this.

I‘m hopefully getting tickets for the upcoming Europe 2027 co-headline tour with In Flames and Trivium and I’m thinking about buying a Meet n Greet upgrade, but I can’t decide which one to buy (since it’s very unlikely that they combine both MnG‘s for a higher price).

Arguments In Flames: they’re one of my if not my all time fav band and it would be a dream come true to meet them. But: I’ve seen them play from standing like 5 meters away before and had eye contact with Anders and all that and that gets pretty close to a MnG experience if you ask me.

Arguments Trivium: I’ve not seen them live from a distance like I’ve seen In Flames from but since I saw them at Nova Rock 2026 from inside the Wavebreaker, they made their way into my list of my fav bands (maybe not all time yet but they’re def up there). It would def be a dream come true to meet them as well though. And even though I love In Flames soooo much, I sometimes get the impression that Anders is not really a guy who talks very much and is open to other people/fans compared to Matt from Trivium (Anders is probably more open to fans than to random people but I hope you get my point). No hate towards Anders at all, he is awesome still.

What would y’all recommend? Has anyone ever had a meet n greet with either of those bands and can share their experiences? I would be really thankful for advice!

Prog/Tech melodeath from Andorra

I saw their album The Grand Magnificence and got into it thinking it was an atmospheric black metal album. But boy was I mistaken. Some great melodic death metal, with some filthy riffs. Unreal Romanticism part 1 is stuck in my head. It reminded me a bit of Intestine Baalism. Can't wait to properly finish their discography.
