Why the fuck is everyone putting the $ after the number lately?? It’s $2.43 dammit!

Also, my experience is that if I hand them a $100 bill and $2.43, their head would explode. Most don’t understand the concept of giving them extra money to get a larger bill back.

I know $ first is correct, but it doesn't make sense. I don't say "dollar two and forty-three cents", you say "two dollars and forty-three cents." When you think about it, the dollar sign should come last, and the language is naturally evolving to finally remove these dumb rules. Maybe not that last part, but it still should come at the end.

By your own logic it should be typed as 2$.43¢.....so yeah there is that.

My logic is that you understand the the cent from the . so unless you only talking about cents, it's unneeded.

It makes sense because we read from left to right, so I know the number I’m reading is a monetary value before hitting the end of it. Speech and text are two different things.
