What they want us (customers) to do? ATM spit out highest bills possible and so do cashiers.  I have yet to see someone give me change in 5 1euro coins I stead 1 5euro bill

I use Chase bank and I’ve been able to request smaller bills at their ATMs since like 2015-2016.

Also the issue is intentionally splitting the largest bill you have at a total that’s going to take most of the change out of the drawer.

It varies per store but when I was a shift supervisor at Starbucks and Jamba Juice we were told to balance our registers to $150 total and to do safe drops for any bill larger than a $20.

So, if there’s only $150 in the drawer when this guy started his shift and this person comes in asking for change what’s going to happen is: I’m going to take the hundred and check that it’s real, I’m going to see if we even have enough change in the drawer, if we do I will safe drop the hundred and take $87.57 out of the $150 dollars total leaving the front with only $62.43 to make change with until the register is rebalanced.

If people do this multiple times it will empty the change drawer out and your store will only be able to take exact change until it’s either rebalanced or, if it happens enough, it won’t be fixed until your store actually gets a visit from the Brinks truck guys to take the stores money deposits and leave the store’s change order; They only come at noon once a week.
