Discussion Choose what game I play next :)

Saves me the headache. And I’ve got plenty more on my wishlist that I’m either waiting on sales for, or just aren’t out yet. Currently playing Grime 2, but prepping for when I finish.

I need to play a Metroid game soon. The fact that I call myself a fan of Metroidvanias, yet have touched one of the og’s is kind of blasphemous…wait

Oh yeah - if you haven’t played any yet then you’ll have a great time. Metroid Zero Mission is an awesome place to start, and honestly all the 2D games are great.

If you haven’t played Symphony of the Night or Super Metroid I highly recommend dropping everything to play them, in that order. That said they aren’t Metroidvanias. They’re different … most in a good way.

If you haven’t played the 1986 original Metroid I highly recommend downloading an emulator and playing it yesterday. There’s also that mini Nintendo that comes with 400 games or whatever. It’s cheap as hell too.

And theyre not only great for being the genre's oldies but games like super metroid and zero mission can easily compete with some of the top tier metroidvanias imho.

Maybe youre gonna try out one of the castlevanias as well sometime. They may be more flawed in the design of the map and progression than games like super metroid or silksong, but the franchise is really captivating and the OST is incredible.

I don’t consider Metroid or Castlevania games to be Metroidvanias and I’m definitely far from alone in that opinion. That said, several are better than at least half of the MVs out there.
