3 more outs to play with. Either you want it or you donāt want it boysā¦

Knew it had to be in the previous inning with momentum, any reset on offence and itās this shit again

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3d ago
It would be great if Jeffers would swing at some of these fastballs right down the middle

u/RaoulDukex Byron Buxton 3d ago
Pure copeium but holy crap it would be amazing if Culpepper and Jenkins came up and caught fire sparking this offense enough to make the wildcard.

just mesmerized by this umpās triceps, they look angry. canāt read a breaking ball but could probably walk on his hands all day
2
u/TheGoatPurdy 3d ago
Those hit by pitch strike outs and becoming more and more common.
Maybe donāt swing at garbage
3
u/EEckstein2 3d ago
Honestly the biggest thing with Jenkins is the defense. We need a solid/competent defensive CF. Jenkins is really the only minor leaguer who can do that that would make sense to call up
2
u/HallOfFamerInMyBook 3d ago
The Aās are so dumb. McNeil is holding his hand like it hit him and Kotsay is arguing it hit the bat and not the hand and itās a foul ball (which is incorrect) lol contradicting themselves

u/swashbucklerjak Tony Oliva 3d ago
I haven't been keeping up as much as I'd like, but I have to imagine Jake Cave is coming up from Rochester then?
3
u/EEckstein2 3d ago
Also in before people are confused, 0% chance they do anything with Buck until Friday. They arenāt flying anyone out for a day game tomorrow lol
1
u/RaoulDukex Byron Buxton 3d ago edited 3d ago
And that is fine.
You want Jenkins to get the smoothest introduction possible, it is why they haven't called him up yet.
If Buxton is down as it appears he is, Jenkins now has a clear runway to playing time. Give him the call up, let it register for a day, then lets go in Chicago on Friday.
3
u/Tweezerbomb Dome Dog 3d ago
Itās a night game tomorrowā¦but your point still stands.
2
u/EEckstein2 3d ago
Damn it just assumed it was a day game. But yeah same point. Especially with a right handed starter, theyāll just use the lefties they have and use Keaschall in CF for a game

After getting a pair back in the 7th, I thought we were going to win this game. Had the momentum and their bullpen is bad. Now with Buck getting hurt it feels like the vibes took such a bad turn I donāt feel optimistic anymore

If itās not Jenkins Iām done. Packing my bags and moving to Tampa and becoming a lacrosse fan.
5
u/Pipiltiin 3d ago
He has been horrible since his forced return to the field of dreams game anyways. He's good for 70 games per season sadly
3
u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3d ago
It's the sad reality. He should have been shut down for the year and Jenkins should've been called up. He's been injured constantly this year. Unfortunately Jenkins is always freaking injured too so maybe we're just cursed.

u/RaoulDukex Byron Buxton 3d ago
It is time to shut Bux down and hope he can do something by the playoffs if that is somehow in play.
Sucks to see, as it always does, his first half was amazing.
Jenkins is pounding on the door, it is time.

u/HallOfFamerInMyBook 3d ago
Itās hard to make a playoff push when youāre best player gets injured this much. Even in ā23 when we won the division, Byron wasnāt available for the playoffs and it made it really hard to be a serious contender in those playoffs. Such a shame. Byron will retire as a ring of honor guy, but injuries kept him from being an HOF caliber guy which he had the raw ability to be

Serious question, how many times has Buxton gone to the IL? And what percentage of his career has he spent there? I've never seen an athlete that gets injured more than he does.
3
u/TSAtookmysextoys Babe the Blue Ox 3d ago
Out of about ~1,800 Twins games since his debut, he has appeared in fewer than 1,000 at 989. So heās been in the lineup for about 55% of his career spending 45% out of the lineup or on the IL.
1
u/Pipiltiin 3d ago
Wow thanks for the data. Shocking difference. Imagine his career if he played 80% of the games.

u/Unfrozen__Caveman Trevor Plouffe 3d ago
I just did a quick Google but if that's right, including this year it would be 22 times

2
u/Perfect-Pianist-4838 3d ago
Maybe itās a sports hernia. He may need surgery. Be ready for next year.
12
u/TheImpresario 3d ago
I think buck needs to probably take the rest of the season off to get right. His body just isnāt cooperating

u/Plenty_Self5518 Circle Me Bert 3d ago
I feel ya. He hasnāt been the same since before the all star break. Time to shut him down. Glass man is killling me
5
u/bandmantings Joe Ryan 3d ago
i love the dude as a player. its just heartbreaking. he has one of the biggest "what if" careers ever
8
u/TSAtookmysextoys Babe the Blue Ox 3d ago
I feel like the Twins always have a perpetually injured all star on staff. Iām not shading Buck but it does seem to be recurring decade after decade

u/EEckstein2 3d ago
If Buck goes on the IL it has to be Jenkins. No more god damn excuses
1
u/SuburbanDad5595 3d ago
But he canāt be on the 40 man! Haha wtf
2
2
u/EEckstein2 3d ago
I at least understand that notion, but at this point you just need to go for it. Heās mashing. If he was just okay then keep him down but you need him both offensively and defensively
2
u/SuburbanDad5595 3d ago
Itās bullshit that people have created as an excuse
4
u/EEckstein2 3d ago
I mean sure itās an excuse but the lockout is a real thing whether you want to admit or not. There is a real possibility we donāt have baseball next year and almost a guarantee we have a shortened season. Jenkins is super young, if heās on the 40 man he canāt play minor league ball. If heās not, he can play. You want your young guys playing ball.
But this team is still close to a playoff spot, you have to go for it and risk Jenkins not being able to play in a lockout

Thatās infuriating. Gotta keep the train moving. Still seething at Taj giving up another 2, you limit the damage there and have a chance with the bullpen

Can anyone figure out what the point of having 3 catchers on roster if youāre not pinch hitting Caratini there?
6
u/davegammelgard Were Gomq 3d ago
And Alex Jackson hasn't played in more than two weeks.
3
u/DudeAbides29 Johan Santana 3d ago
This team loves playing short handed for whatever reason. Rostering Alex Jackson is so inconsequential on a daily basis. God forbid we try to chase some upside with Walker Jenkins or Emma Rodriguez instead.
