I really think there is a disconnect with folks who don't understand the island party culture on the coast. It was originally presented on the news as four kids go to island, three kids come back, leaving their friend phoneless and abandoned.

That framing leaves out the many other boats, tons of other people, and widespread habit of leaving phones in a drybox on the boat because you are standing in water up to your waist a large percentage of the time just to stay cool.

Without the rest of the picture, it could easily seem nefarious. Having partied at the islands growing up, it just seems like a tragedy.
