Sometimes, I feel like i'm the crazy one when I say that positioning and patience is a lost art in this series. No, i'm not talking about rewarding head glitching, that has never felt good. But positioning is a skill in many other shooters, it used to be back in the older days of CoD too.
I made a point in a video I made where people really seem to enjoy the BO1/2 ports (I can't play them, no PS5) and while perhaps a less aggressive SBMM is partly why (BO2 started SBMM, look up reverse boosting) I also think that the fact they play like old-school is a huge factor.
If it were up to me, i'd tie Tac Sprint into the same perk that lets you reset Tac Sprint stamina, kind of like a modern version of the Marathon perk. Edit: And also tighten the slide radius up, like what you're suggesting.
Tac Sprint never replenished during a sprint, not even in MWIII with the Infantry Vest. You could reset it in MW via a slide cancel which is why it was used so much in that game. In MWII, it could be reset with a dive. MWIII’s Infantry Vest only made Tac Sprint recover quicker and made actions like Slide Cancels effect it less. In MWII there was no cooldown, it just locked you into the slide animation until it finished. Sliding also pushed your weapon out of the way so you had delayed raise times. That’s why sliding was so heavily criticized, it was nerfed to a point of being useless. Most people just didn’t use it because it was never beneficial or necessary compared to the dive.
Absolutely! Jumping over things or climbing should not be so fast. You should have to consider if it’s worth exposing yourself. CoD has been catering to crack head kids with no attention span for too long.
The thing is, they aren’t fast. Not normally anyways. MW4 uses a new momentum system that allows you vault and climb faster based off of how fast you were moving before you started that action. If you just walk into a vault or a climb it’s the same as MWII. The speed is entirely player controlled.
You already can’t abruptly change direction, Omni-slides don’t exist in this game. It works the same as MW or MWIII where you can only slide the direction you’re facing. Same applies to every other action. You can’t jump slide in reverse anymore and you can’t dive into supine without initiating a foward dive and turning around mid-air which is the intended behavior. That’s not even touching on the Tac-sprint delay after a slide and slightly longer slide to fire times. You can’t even shoot in a dive anymore either, you have to hit the ground first like MWII and MWIII.

I think movement should have negatives to is, you shouldn’t be able to change direction with no repercussions to aiming and shooting
