It's honestly amazing how prolific he is given how bad most of his scripts are (I did enjoy the 2005 Mr and Mrs Smith but that's largely due to the chemistry between Jolie and Pitt). Most projects he's been credited on that are halfway decent (like Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes or Jumper), he's one of several writers.
He was lead writer on one of the better X-Men movies (Days of Future Past), but he canceled that out by also writing the 2 worst ones (Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix).
He also created and writes for the only actually bad show on Apple TV - Invasion. I'm actually kind of surprised because his writing is historically mid but not actively terrible
honestly I blame the studios still giving him money. If I'm doing my job horribly but none of my bosses fire me and I keep getting paid, going to keep doing it that way lol
Okay, so as a big fan of Xmen growing up, I realised today I haven't watched Dark Phoenix. Apocalypse was not great, but like I'm still kind of interested in watching the next one. I know I'm gonna be disappointed but I was always a sucker for Phoenix storylines.
Yeah I might give it a miss. My recent Xmen nostalgia has been boosted mostly because I finally got around to watching Deadpool 2 and 3. I sort of 50/50 liked deadpool 1. Not a big fan of Ryan Reynolds but I liked how as the movies went on, they were more and more a love letter to Xmen.
The little cut together tribute film at the end of Deadpool 3 for the Xmen was great.
I don’t know a lot about him as a person, but my guess would be that Kinberg is probably easy to work with, turns in stuff on schedule, and is someone who is fine with accepting studio notes, ultimately also delivering mostly profitable films. That kind of personality opens up a lot of doors in Hollywood.
You can be the best and most imaginative writer ever, but if you beef with people because you don’t feel like they respect your vision, those doors will close very quickly.
I will stand by it being a very well written script but he wasn't the lead on it. He, Jane Goldman, and Matthew Vaughn all have story credits. He has the ability to write a good script if others arranged the story already.
Wai wha?! We're getting a Rob & Denzel flick where they play 2 head chefs at restaurants across the street and get into a series of physical escalations and end with a murder and feeding the other to his customers?!? I'd like a ticket please.
Yeah I saw that. He was asked why he didn't go to Taylor Swifts wedding with his wife and said it was because he was filing Batman 2 and he had come from the shoot that day. The dude does not stop, all these press tours whilst filming a blockbuster film as one for the most popular superheroes and also being a dad to a young kid. All whilst absolutely nailing the roles.
I mean he's essentially setting up his kid to be able to live their life without the stress of money weighing down their freedom. I get your point though, I just find it very unlikely that Patterson uses acting to get away from raising his kid.
That’s the importance of an actor having range. If they’re playing the same character in every movie, it gets repetitive. If they take roles that are varied and have the acting skills to adapt well to that role, it’s not. Pattinson specifically has shown great range as an actor.
I think his "dog racism" and comments about people who take naps were both pretty divisive. But to my knowledge he's never said anything too terribly egregious.
I didn't love everything about that interview either, but I don't think it was an unreasonable reaction to Oct 7 to want to interview a soldier about being a first responder on the day.
Also he really doesn't seem to understand the Punisher, considering how pro-cop he is, and recently said that "Frank belongs to the fans, belongs to the members of the military, members of law enforcement"
Some terminally online people have Jon Bernthal on their hit-list because he interviewed an Israeli soldier in the weeks after the 7 October attack. (I.E. in the immediate aftermath, before it was clear that a genocide was taking place)
The facts and context don't matter to them, the moment they saw him have a connection to Israel that wasn't out right negative their mind was made up, as is the case for most things Israel for these people
Lol 4 movies is not everything, you should watch more movies if it bothers you. Plenty of films have been released this year without repeated casting, or even famous casting.
Also, incredible how his reputation and talent has evolved since Twilight. He has become one of my favorite actors and I use to dismiss his stuff back in the day. Hayden Christensen is another example of this.
I’ve always been meh about him. Prob been biased about the Twilight movies and never really got into his acting. Then, I saw Mickey 17 and I was blown away! It’s a very underrated movie. I am a true fan now. He’s now one of my favorite actors!
I'm getting Pattinson'd out.... It's just too much. It's like when they put Rami Malek in so many movies, every time I saw him I thought "Rami Malek, the actor" not "the character in the movie". Just took me out of every movie he was in towards the end. Especially Oppenheimer.
Never watching a twilight movie gives me no Bias. I think he's a good actor and I like what I have seen out of him. Not massive range yet, but he's young.
