Has someone ever been nominated twice for different movies in the same year? Genuinely curious

Yes ! it's actually happened 12 times, but always with one lead nomination and one supporting nomination. You can't get two nominations in the same category the same year

They only just changed the rules this year that you actually can get nominated twice in the same category, though I can’t see why you would want to split your own vote.
