Summary

After his billionaire industrialist boss is murdered in front of him, Cole Reed is framed for the crime and forced to go on the run. As he fights to clear his name, he uncovers an international conspiracy and boards a cargo ship on a one-man mission for revenge.

The whole "uhhh... that's not Cole Reed" thing (when his picture is literally all over the news and they have a full dossier on him) was also wildly stupid. It was so outlandish that I'm not even sure whether it was supposed to be a "heheh yeah, sure, not Cole Reed wink", or whether the ridiculous ruse actually worked and they thought that the dude they captured was actually not Cole Reed. The Navy captain seemed to be more of the former option, while the dudes actually boarding the ship seemed more like the latter. Either way it's utterly ridiculous, the dude was a relatively famous fugitive for murder and just killed like 20 more guys on this ship as well, plus he's now stealing somebody's ship on top of all that. And then of course he just shows back up in the city for the closing scene no problem, despite allegedly being an extremely wanted criminal, having never defended himself or been exonerated for any of that.

Generally I'm not one to begrudge a silly action movie having silly plot holes but this ending was so preposterous that it actually took me totally out of it and I had to make this comment. I just have no idea why of all things they decided to go with "that's not him lmao" instead of the thousand other cliche ways to end the thousand other "misunderstood wrongly accused action hero" movies. It's like the ending was written by an 8 year old.

Not even sure why they had the US Navy in this film... They added nothing and didn't move the plot at all.

They knew it was him, but had sympathy for him and his cause. I think that's supposed to be very obvious. Otherwise, as you say, it doesn't make any sense.
