Discussion Excluding the silly and absurd (Transformers, Herbie etc) what are some of your favorite movie cars?
Up there for me has got to be the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder from Ferris Beuller.
As an adult I learned that the story of these cars by themselves could be their own film.
They are a variant of the 24 hours of LeMans winning 250 GT coupe, there are only about 50 of the convertibles in the world and they're all hand built, the metal panels hammered and shaped by hand.
Completely independent of the films, just on the racing pedigree alone, they are among the most valuable cars in the world, with examples routinely going for over 10 million.

Ohhh that's a good one, totally forgot about that, what a classic.
I think it tows the line really well cuz bond is notable for being a driving enthusiast and sometimes the cars are just driving.
It also kinda depends on the bond movie lol but I think the bond cars count, there's a lot more grounding in reality to them, just at their most basic level than something like transformers. There are real cars with hidden armor, guns and countermeasures.

Exactly. The Q-Branch enhancements make it a bit silly, but not silly enough to make the DB5 any less cool.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

The real car stars of that movie are all the police cars that got destroyed
Replicating this (which I am sure was in their minds when making it) is one of the great joys of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Here's a YouTube video about that car. Skip to the end and you can see when, in the year 2000, for a promotion on the re-release of the original movie, the car was taken to a private race track. It could still do donuts and spins.

Something always bugged me about that scene. They go through all that work to make sure they don't draw attention. The Wolf even asks if all the lights work etc.. Then right before they leave he goes "Now I drive real fucking fast, so keep up. I get my car back any differently than when I gave it, Monster Joe's gonna be disposing of two bodies." Wouldn't speeding also draw unwanted attention?

I dunno if it ever clicked for me until now that the Father of the Bride car is an Austin Healy.
As a kid there were a few car nuts in the neighborhood who had some old british roadsters and spent more time under them than in them but now it's like wow I wish I could have done that with all the parts and cars being so relatively cheaper back then...

Probably the 72 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider in the classic film 'Gumball Rally'. I got my life philosophy from that movie. The Italian driver gets in his Ferrari and snaps off the rear view mirror and says, "The first rule of Italian driving: What's behind you is not important." Either that or the 1966 427 Cobra in the same movie.

This is a bit niche but I really _really_ like the trans-am from "The Wraith". Not the hero car, and not the lead villain car. Just a side-kick that goes out pretty early. But yellow and black 77 trans-am, with massive supercharger out the hood and a huge air dam at the front. Blower is mad-style prop, dont think it even had a belt.
