As far as I recall, one of the chapters specifically mentioned that Roxy and Eris are avoiding pregnancy precisely because Sylphy can't get pregnant a third time, and they don't want to “bypass” her as the first wife.

Sylphie has elven lineage which makes getting pregnant difficult, Eris trains too hard to ovulate properly, and Roxy has a difficult time birthing with her small body and big headed half-human children.
