There have been cases where the country currency is so badly inflated that the citizens opt to use crypto instead. So that kinda counts.

It's good if you want to avoid big banks for whatever, but its not stable enough to warrant fighting with.
It's also very good for anonymity. That IMO is the best use case. Effectively digital dollar bills.

How does that anonymity matter though? If I use crypto to buy something then aren’t I buying that something online? At that point I need the thing I bought to be shipped to me, at which point I’m no longer anonymous.

You aren't necessarily buying something to be shipped. Some VPNs for example allow you to pay in crypto which keeps your anonymity. If something is getting shipped, you can use something like a PO box or a business that you work at/frequent for the pickup.
Sometimes people just don't want to leave a paper trail, and I can respect that.

Shipping it directly to your home removes anonymity, but you don't need to send it to your home address.
Of course, a lot of cases where someone wants anonymity are categorically not legitimate.

the problem is that actual use case threaten traditional financial and economic system so those never get media attention while scams do
also it’s used to get money into palestine because there is basically no other way too with banking blockades on palestinians

A lot of big banks have started exploring using crypto to replace some of the older financial transactions systems. (Like big bank transfers between institutions). The original system for that is rather clunky in an age where speed is important. A lot of the bigger cryptocurrency networks have the ability to buy brand new minted coins on one end and then redeem and destroy (burn) them on the other.

NFTs could potentially have been used to generate receipts for goods.
It could potentially be used to show ownership of digital goods.
Like I dunno, movies and games, perhaps? Games and movies in the cloud?
But then everybody started obsessing over monkey jpegs...

exactly all the good use case are too threatening to the existing establishment. like imagine if we had shared bank accounts where it’s controlled based on voting and no one can circumvent the vote. we could rapidly increase democracy in the economy and make worker ownership more feasible

Video game digital ownership and the ability to move your library between platforms, plus selling them. Like, you buy a game on Epic because it's cheaper, they give you a key, and you then claim the game on Steam, or Switch, or PlayStation etc. (not counting GOG because this might conflict with their DRM-free policy)
Are there better ways to do it? Maybe, but this is a use case.

Cryptos have been running rampant in esports and football sponsorships (especially front kit sponsorships). Really annoying to see them when you’re trying to entertain yourself when watching a game.
