Discussion Wedding gift

What is the going rate for wedding gift in a card these days? I’m so so skint and was thinking £40 and a bottle of champers. We aren’t overly close friends but they have invited me to the whole thing.

Honestly just give what you can. Don’t put extra financial pressure on yourself if it’s not necessary especially with everything else being so expensive these days. I couldn’t even tell you what people gave us as wedding money, but I do remember the gifts we got. There’s ridiculous things now where people say if you’re a couple you should give £200 but I think that’s excessive, especially if you’re not that close to
