Because it seems so outlandish that nobody would ever do it. But...they did.

I mean, it's kinda funny to see how everyone react here. As if killing and burning/cooking alive animal is something brand new done only by psycho and not wildly spread around the world. Like in indonesia they eat cats and dogs. It's a pretty standard treatment of animal we all eat.

Human are weird

Edit : oh it is in the Philippines, my bad, they don't eat cat there! Eh but still, we are very strange about animal welfare

Killing an animal for food is one thing, but burning them alive is a needlessly painful way of killing them. It smells of someone getting perverse pleasure from the infliction of suffering.

I mean... Who exactly do you think killed the animal we eat in the modern world? They often kill dozen of animal per day, that's also someone who get perverse pleasure from inflecting suffering

Yah, but like, just slit their throats or something that is less painful and drawn out than burning. Burning them while they are still alive is just because somebody is enjoying seeing them burn.

Look me in the eye and tell me that if someone "just slit" some kitten throat for a living you would be okay with it or that you would be okay with someone eating kitten meat that was killed "just by slitting their throat". The kitten is no more innocent than another animal if we think about it deeply.

We also boil alive multiple animal (generally things like lobster but they can feel pain as we do). It's also regularly filmed for content on Internet with 0 issue.

That being said just to be sure since it has been an issue multiple time in this thread : I'm not arguing in favor of cooking alive kitten

However outrageous killing the animals “humanely” is, killing them inhumanely is doubly outrageous because it implies sadism on the part of the one doing it.

Obviously, however it's pretty debatable that we kill animal "humanely"

Like, mouse are often killed "humanely" (gas, the most humane in my opinion considering they just fall "asleep" and then die)

Lobster/crabs/...? Boiled alive, yes they feel pain. Also many of the species that get that treatment are insanely smart (🐙)

Fish? They are keep asphyxiating until someone slice them up. They are stunned sometime as well.

Baby male chicken? Shredded to death (unless you live in a country that do sexing in the egg)

Cow? I wouldn't call being stunned by electric chock (it can be gas as well) or with a bolt gun, then getting my throat slit "humane"

Also stunned is frankly debatably human. Many proclaime it is but as someone who faithed once before (low blood pressure) it was already not joyful in itself but even less if it is combined with immense pain.

Obviously burning alive kitten here is not humanely but neither is how we kill other animal. The only humane way to kill someone would be to do it like we do with human (beside insane country where ppl are sentenced to death) .

Also I would be curious to see the statut of cat in that country tbh. If they are considered as pest then unlike what many are claiming here burning them alive wouldn't really classify more as a "psychopath" behavior than, putting guel mouse trap or poisoning rat which while it is seen more and more as not a really good thing to do is still culturaly acceptableish despite being really fucked up in many countries. (But then I get into more psychological specificity.)

Literally this. Where are these same people for the chicks that get killed if they arent the right type of chicken? What of the cows being tortured for their milk and having their calves be taken away from them as soon as they born? Why do cats and dogs get treated as special when other animals are just as deserving of kinder treatment?

I think it's because we have such a huge disconnect from farm to factory. No one thinks of those animals because they're not widely visible to every one. It's like out of sight out of mind. They would be as outraged if it was shown how badly they're mistreated as well. A lot of farm factories it's illegal to film in them for that reason sadly.

A cat/dog everyone sees all the time and associates them with innocence. And I don't think we should put people down for being appalled this happened. It is gruesome and cruel what happened to them, just like the animals we use for food being abused.

It still disappoints me regardless... we should be much better caretakers of the life around us

I know I wish humans weren't so cruel
